To me, life is simply a mess. Of all the rare and dying resources on this planet - life is the most common resource (and therefore) the cheapest there is, as far as "supply and demand" goes...
Yet, everyone says it has value - that lives are precious, priceless, etc....
To me, where there is enough resources on this planet for one (and only one life) nature will hand out a million more lives, consuming and destroying everything in it's path, with unapologetic abandon.
So, my only answer is that there is no such thing as the value of life, except for the value life places on itself (due to biased favor of the self). It's a perceived, man made construct to validate our entitlement; our "right to survive." But to me, life has no value - at all.
For example, say I was in a life and death fighting match with one opponent, and I am winning. He will fight back, attack, defend and hold onto his life as though it were some precious element on this earth. From my rival's point of view, his life is precious - beyond measure. His fighting style shows it, but to me? No. Is his life precious beyond any measure on this planet to you? Again, no. So, he vastly overrates himself. But that's the very thing - everyone with the proper genetic design will over estimate the value of their own life. But they can't help it - it is the need for life that was designed and implanted within them since birth - prejudiced and biased in it's own favor.
If you or I were to die today, it would be of no consequence on this earth. Everything will just continue with the same balance it always had.... maybe even better now that one less life is forever gone from consuming and destroying this planet.

So, what's the value of life to you? Is it worth the life of another innocent human being? How can you possibly even begin to measure something like that, and determine that the value of life is somehow "precious?" Who says it is? Religion? That's just adding a ritual and a candle to your false sense of entitlement. Someone please explain and provide a counter argument to this, because otherwise - I am stumped lol...

There's a value of life in the abstract, but of you look at what human life is doing to the planet, in regards to our carbon footprint, we should probably just stop breeding now.

My son is a pro cage fighter he won another fight not long ago.

My other son fought for his life on life support when a
text driver mushed his brain.

Being in a ring getting smashed around for $$$$$ is pathetic
but fighting back from the brink of death is a real champion
my son earns good money away from the cage as he owns his very
own huge fancy gym he makes a shit load of money I know it's not
about the money for him but still I don't like the shit.

I don't believe in God I loath religion!~

I should of died Sept 2012 they don't know why I'm here and to be
honest I'm here because I fought to stay here.

I'm not into over thinking things on the why's I take one day at a time.

If I've read your thread wrong I apologise

The "value" of life -if one insists on seeing it in terms of worth -is in its potential.
I say potential because of our present perspective, but it's potential is inevitable.
That potential is love, wonder, creativity, joy, awe..... and an absence of all of those things which presently make life a mess.

The truth is that we make life a mess because we do not yet do life correctly.
As we are new, there must be a learning process -and a temporary state wherein all sorts of things go wrong.

In this time, you can make your life worth what it can be worth to yourself and others.
You can drift through it or make things awesome.
You can let life happen to you or you can happen to it.
You can actively make life better for yourself and others -make an awesome future more certain for yourself and others -or just let whatever happens happen.

Some have traded their actual lives by death or a lack of well-being in order to make the lives of others better.
Fortunately, this life -and the death that follows -are only temporary.

The value of life, is living it.

That's my answer for that.

What you wrote about op is the value of a person.

Or value a person's life, but that's a different concept than the value of life.

The value of a person to me, is what they earned it to be, in the same token the value of a persons life is the same thing, what they earned it to be.

The problem is, if you can have ten different people view the same person and all 10 will have a different view of that person in a rating scale of the value of that person or that persons life.

Gets pretty confusing huh?

You can't put a dollar figure on it. The only thing that matters at the end of the day is have you done enough to make your mark in this world by accomplishing the goals that you had set for yourself?? Are you satisfied that you have done all you can or is there some regret in not being able to perform certain tasks?? Money won't be coming with you to your grave. Everybody's greedy fingerprints will be all over it when you die. It always happens.

For our first pretend date.... I propose a picnic in an area with a fair amount of activity. We can perhaps bike there.... get to know each other, but also fill any awkward silences with observations about the behaviors of others.
We can both bring a bit of unusual food for the other to try.

Unless you can think of something.

The universe does not compare to that which exists within another.
Rocks, dust, energy -
The only reason to go out into the universe is to share it and to make it more than it is.

That which exists behind the eyes of another can not only understand the universe, but imagine it to be more than it is -and make it so.

They once thought plants were simply successful or not due to conditions alone -passively competing for resources, etc., but are now finding that some are basically aggressive -and some can identify their own offspring and feed them through their root system.
A mom tree knows her baby trees and feeds them -but not anything else her roots contact.
That is freakin' amazing!

Fauna have the ability to experience actual pain and suffering, and humans have the ability to consider it on a much higher level -which has created a will for things to be fundamentally different (though individual animals certainly will to not feel pain).

As a believer in biblical scripture, the reason for allowing the present state of the animal world -and changing it later at a specific time -is of great interest to me. It says the lion will eat straw like the ox, snakes will eat "dust", etc.

That which we experience is that which molds us. Even not considering scripture, humans are nearing the ability to change the nature of animals -and have a will to create systems free of harm.

This looks to be a sort of rant against the many people who use "life is precious" to excuse all manner of intrusions into other peoples' lives. I heartily approve of it from that point of view. No need to declare life to be without value at all to deflect them, though.

Everyone is always killing everything.

I couldn't care less about humans, they treat animals so badly.

Hence why I don't care about abortion.
A lot of people are against it but no one values animal life, why value a fetus. Seems doublesided to me.

I don't give a crap if I live or die. Done everything I wanted to do pretty much

What if you wear camouflage and stalk people who go into the suicide forest then cut then down when they hang themselves

Although I heard Japan has a heavy shame culture so its not like here where depression can be alleviated through support etc.
And suicide is often s spur of moment thing.
Over there its a shame thing
Think they even try to do family suicides. It was in a manga I was reading

You would then need to address the underlying issues. -counseling -actively changing the culture....
But maybe catching them before they do anything would be better

I am all for stalking in forests, but ......

She asked if I remembered being a fetus. I said no. Then she asked if I had any memories of not living. I said no. “That’s how death feels like. You won’t remember it happened, so, in a sense, it’s almost like you live forever. “

Opportunity has much value.

It depends on how open or closed that door is and whether you have resources to make the most of opportunity.

Value to whom?

For example, a dirty wh*re has value to me, but not to the average soccer mom. If there are more people like me in society, dirty wh*re value goes up.

But some people have no value to anyone. Beggars for example, offer no value to society, they're parasitic. So outside if not wanting them to suffer, they have no value to me.

All that has gone before is pretty meaningless when you're dead ain't it?

Life has lots of value
Right up until 8 cents ends it

But if your state exists then it can be recorded and reproduced.

Just because we can't do it yet does not mean it isn't already a thing.

O Caritas -Cat Stevens

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzt2BrRw8LM

hunc ornatum mundi nolo perdere - (this ornament of the world I do not want to lose)

video flagrare omnia res - (I see all things burning)

audio clamare homines - (I hear people shouting)

nunc exstinguitur mundi et astrorum lumen - (now the light of the world and the stars is put out)

nunc concipitur mali hominis crimen - (now is exposed the accusation of man's evil)

tristitate et lacrimis gravis est dolor - (with sadness and tears heavy is the grief)

de terraeque maribus magnus est clamor - (from the lands and the seas great is the noise)

O caritas, o caritas nobis semper sit amor - (O caritas, o caritas, may we always have love)

nos perituri mortem salutamus - (we who are about to die salute death)

sola resurgit vita. - (only life reappears.)

Ah, this world is burning fast
Oh, the world will never last
I don't want to lost it here in my time
Give me time forever here in my time.
