In Which A Koala Bear Steals Our Hearts

You may or may not be familiar with this little lady. but she's basically become the face of the wildfires in Australia. Her name is Sam, and she was found hobbling along with really badly burned paws and desperately dehydrated. Which is why this kindly firefighter man stopped to give her some water and a helping hand. But the story doesn't end there, it ends after the jump, where there are really cute photos and a very happy ending.

Sam has found a happy home with Collen Wood from Southern Ash Wildlife Shelter, where her tiny tootsies have been carefully bandaged, though her second-degree burns will take seven to eight months to heal.

In the meantime, Sam has found herself a boyfriend in Bob, another rescued koala. According to Colleen, "'They keep putting their arms around each other and giving each other hugs. They really have made friends."

Sammy and Bob...sitting in a tree...

 Sorry. We couldn't help ourselves.

Hey there. This little guy has also been one of the few bright spots in a terrible week for Australia. Bushfires in the Oz state of Victoria have destroyed towns and killed over 180 people. We're still in mourning down here and fires are still raging. Think of us.
