Cera's on board, and it's all happening, ASAP. Will Arnett's got the vague details, and a funny explanation of why everything is taking so damn long. Here's what he told E! News (goddamn them to hell for that stupid exclamation point)...

I think it has to do with schedules, and Jason Bateman’s been in rehab for the last two years, so when he gets out, then I think we’ll probably start.

Hah! But no probablies. Details, please, funny guy who is married to a funny lady -

"We want to get done by the end of the year and Mitch [Hurwitz, writer/director] is actively working on [it]," adds Will. "Hopefully, by the fall, we’ll start rolling, as they say."

Hopefully? Come on, people, let's do this. Arnett knows we're getting restless:

"I’m worried that people are going to start taking to the streets," Will tells E! News. "I imagine there are other people who are like, 'Who cares?' As far as I know, everybody’s doing it."

Yeah, we knew that too. Hustle it up, kids. Damn.

So everybody can settle down now. Considering Cera's the only member of the cast who's a lead in (popular) films now, and is now taking a (very) supporting role in an ensemble comedy based on a cult TV show, this may be a decision that's costing him as much as a couple million dollars. Of course, saying yes, and thereby not ruining this movie for everyone, means AD fans won't have to chase him with torches.

According to an E! Exclusive (God, that forced exclamation point in their network's title feels like punctuation rape) Cera is in. Don't know if they met his financial demands or he just caved under the immense weight of carrying Jeffrey Tambor and Portia de Rossi's careers on his narrow little shoulders, but the kid finally succumbed to all the peer pressure. Which is good for all of us, if not necessarily for him.

According to Jeffrey "George Bluth Sr." Tambor, the Arrested Development movie will happen this year, and it will have Michael Cera in it. "Trust me," added Tambor. Should we? Here, precisely, is what Tambor said:

"If I have to call him up and say, ‘Get on set right now, young man,’ he’ll be there,” the comic said at a recent Upright Citizens Brigade L.A. performance of “Word Girl.” “The movie is going to happen this year, and Michael Cera is on board. Trust me.”

Right. But would Michael Cera even take that call? This kid is being demonized by AD fanatics, but there's math involved here. Michael Cera is now a film star. Better than that, he's a young film star, with lots of buzz and a following of young dudes who want to be him, young girls who love his Paulie Bleekerness, and these kids' parents, who remember him from that great TV show. He's got what they call big box-office crossover appeal right now - and these moments dodn't last forever. To a much lesser degree, he's John "Vinnie Barbarino" Travolta after Grease and Saturday Night Fever - and you gotta know that Travolta wouldn't have done a Welcome Back Kotter movie. Basically, Michael Cera can get paid. And to pass up a lead role to instead do an ensemble piece for a cult TV show (albeit one with a rabid following) is a decision that would probably cost him in the neighborhood of a couple million dollars. Jeffrey Tambor needs the Arrested Development movie; Michael Cera doesn't. It'd be cool if he did it, but people need to understand where this kid is coming from.

"Office" Spinoff: Amy Poehler Has A Sidekick, and Her Name Is Aubrey Plaza

She's from Upright Citizens Brigade, (which, of course, is where Poehler first got known) and will be playing an intern who follows Amy's character, Leslie Knope, around.The pieces of this spinoff are coming together: Poehler will play "the deputy chairman of parks and recreations in Pawnee, Ind." Here's more info:

In the show, Leslie attempts to improve her town and advance her career by helping a local nurse (Rashida Jones, "The Office") turn a construction pit into a park. They're opposed by defensive bureaucrats, NIMBY neighbors and developers. She's helped and hindered by Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari, "Human Giant," "Scrubs"), another government official.

In the process, Leslie hopes to inspire her bored college intern (Aubrey Plaza) and reach her goal of becoming the first female President of the United States.

We likes. Anyway, Plaza's young, and her career is taking off: she's currently shooting Judd Apatow's Funny People, will be in a film premiering at Sundance, and has been cast in the upcoming Michael Cera movie Scott Pilgrim Against The World. She's funny, too, as this impression of Sarah Silverman demonstrates:

So young, with so much peer pressure...

Michael Cera, who a few months back said he didn't "see a need" for an Arrested Development movie, is still holding out, despite mounting screams from crazed Arrested Development fans, and what appear to be yeses from every single other cast member. Impressive for a 20-year-old to resist this much pressure; and kinda understandable, dammit - Cera, so great in Juno and Superbad, has quickly emerged as a lead in movies, and will reportedly play Gilligan in the Gilligan's Island remake. Jason Bateman understands Cera's dilemma, but he would like him to hurry up already:

I think you really have to get him on the phone to get his answer about whether he's going to come back and do it or not. I know he's thinking about it, and we're all awaiting some finality to that...He's certainly not said that he won't do it. I think he's, you know, Michael is clearly the guy that has come out of 'Arrested Development' with a very, very big plate. And so I think he's trying to really give some responsible thought to what makes sense for him to do with his career.

The guy's 20 years old and I'm sure he doesn't want to screw up this opportunity, and trying to figure out whether an 'Arrested Development' film would be right for him and his future, I think, again, he's just trying to give responsible time to that decision. And he may or may not have come to a decision. I really can't speak to that.

If we had to bet (and we won't, Gamblers Anonymous strictly forbids it) we'd say Cera will come around, once his price is met. We hope so.

Michael Cera has reportedly agreed to play Gilligan in the Gilligan's Island remake - and Gilligan creator Sherwood Schwartz is trying to land Beyonce for the role of Ginger.

We like Cera as Gilligan - amazing how his career has taken off, to the point where he's now the key to the Arrested Development movie. You go, Paulie Bleeker.

And God bless/damn him, he might be on to something.

While doing press for his new indie comedy Nick and Norah's Ultimate Playlist, Cera told The National Post that he hasn't heard anything about a movie version of the show, and that "I don't think I would want to see a movie of the series if I was a fan, anyway." He also doesn't understand why people would want a movie if they can watch the three seasons of the show on DVD.

What do you want? He's right. He's totally. Right. And yet... how great would an AD movie be? Or would it? What if he's actually right? It might be terrible. Or it might be great. Terrible, great, terrible, great, no, yes, no, yes, no, yes, sister, daughter, sister, daughter!!!

EW.com reported today:

Former Arrested Development co-star Jeffrey Tambor confirmed published reports that a movie version of the Emmy-winning Fox comedy is in the works. “After months of speculation. I think we have finally figured out for sure that we are indeed doing an Arrested Development movie," Tambor told EW.com at the premiere of Hellboy 2 on Sunday. "I am very excited about that. I love that cast and crew and I felt like we had more to say."

The series, which aired for three seasons, starred Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett and Michael Cera. The single-camera comedy was beloved by critics, but was never a ratings bonanza for Fox. The network canceled the show a year after it won the Emmy award for best comedy.

Now we just need to make sure Jessica Walter gets a break in her new 90210 contract…
