  According to a new study by three Ohio State professors, published in The International Journal Of Press/Politics, both conservatives and liberals find Stephen Colbert funny - but conservatives are much more likely to believe he means what he says and that he genuinely dislikes liberalism.   As we previously reported, NASA had an open competition to name a new room at its International Space Station - and, along with the four NASA-sanctioned name choices, ("Serenity", etc.) write-in votes were allowed. At Stephen Colbert's urging, "Colbert" won easily. Except then NASA got a little weaselly, at the prospect of a Colbert style Rickrolling. They said they would consider all the top choices, but then reserved the right to overrule the will of the people (yeah, that's us editorializing) and make the final decision themselves. • The Best Political TV Last Night? Stephen Colbert Endorsing Barack Obama.

  Yeah, we watched the Obamarama. It was OK. But honestly: we DVR'd Pushing Daisies, and it was excellent. Any show that has people that attractive and funny and manages to squeeze murder, gambling, dim sum, sexy discipline, AND waking the dead into a single hour deserves an audience however it can get it. Good call, ABC; you have gifted us with wonderful balm in this heady times. But enough of the 8PM hour. Because the best thing about the election from last night was not the infomercial, nor Obama's Daily Show appearance, but Stephen Colbert's bold, weird, mavericky -- and, he notes, non-binding -- endorsement of the junior Senator from Illinois for president.
