Suppose we should have seen this coming, what with this season's subplot involving
all dem bitches from the Stamford branch creepin' up on Scranton
corners and cutting into Michael's juice, but still. Weird, huh?
Thesp Idris Elba has been cast on "The Office" as a new rival to Dunder Mifflin regional manager Michael Scott (Steve Carell).
Elba, most recently seen in Guy Ritchie's "Rocknrolla," will appear in six episodes later this season. Details are slim on his plot line, other than he'll play a no-nonsense hire at Dunder Mifflin's corporate office who will throw Michael Scott into turmoil.
Not that we don't love Idris Elba, but he can do comedy? Granted, The
Office is excruciatingly drawn-out, brilliantly written comedy -- sorta
like The Wire, but funny -- but still. Yuks? NBC seems to think so, and
darned if we won't check it out ourselves!
