• OMG How Come No One Told Us Adult Swim Is Airing "The Mighty Boosh"???

  Flake out on the last couple Look Around You's and look what you miss. Adult Swim is airing The Mighty Boosh! And it's Season Three even! The season we haven't seen yet! The season we haven't broken down and ordered from Amazon.co.uk yet! Oh frabjous day! OK, so, if you don't know what The Mighty Boosh is, well, basically, it's Flight of the Conchords as a kids show but on some sort of DMT/E cocktail. And it's great. As comedy, we confess, it's not always consistently funny -- but as a dedicated effort by two grown men to act like they're part Banana Splits, part 70's rock gods, well, it is unparalled in its giddy, goofy delights. The first episode got aired last week. We had no idea. (Look, we were on a plane at the time, couldn't be helped.) But now we know: Monday's at 1AM (which for some of you probably means "Sunday night," just so we're clear.)   We always enjoy any fun to be had in our adult lives at the expense of our elementary education.  Luckily, Robert  Popper and Peter Serafinowicz's feel the same way... "Robert Popper and Peter Serafinowicz's short-lived comedy series Look Around You debuted on the BBC in 2002; the first season consisted of a mere eight 10-minute segments spoofing the classroom educational films Popper and Serafinowicz watched as kids in the late '70s and early '80s. But those super-short episodes, exploring topics like "Maths" and "Sulphur," garnered the BAFTA nominees a cult following...But the first-season episodes were something special, and Adult Swim is currently airing them on Sunday nights for Americans' benefit." • "The Drinky Crow Show": Imagine If Samuel Beckett And Larry David Wrote "Itchy And Scratchy". On A Boat.

  We seem to remember catching the first episode of Adult Swim's Drinky Crow Show, like, last May, and then nothing, not a peep, until this November, when it started showing up on Sunday nights. And now that we've caught a second and a third episode, you know what? It's just gorgeous and demented and gory and wonderful as we remember, like the coolest adult comix you ever stole from your dad's closet and didn't quite understand the first time around. We're not that familiar with the comic strip Maakies, upon which it's based, so we don't know if much was lost in translation. We're guessing the slight philosophical bent to the dialogue is faithful to the source material; the endless supply of spurting arterial blood and freaky Pee-Wee's Play-Houseboat design? Your guess is as good as ours. What we do know -- and what's most important -- is: we've never had this much fun watching alcoholic crows and monkeys bash each other's organs out on the open seas. Seriously, Adult Swim -- this almost makes up for Assy McGee. We got the pilot after the jump -- give it a shot, kids. • "Venture Bros" Is Gearing Up For The End Of Season Three

  Something we've noticed about Adult Swim's The Venture Bros. -- it gets better the more it digs into the mythology of its characters. Unlike lots of other parodic or fantastic shows, which bog down every time the backstory is brought up, Venture Bros. revels in the backgrounds of its characters like rabid pigs in bloody trash. The jokes might not come quicker -- it's a pretty quick show, no matter when you see it -- but the gags are punchier, more well-excuted, and as the big fights and muddled monologues let loose, the characters themselves get excited -- even downright giddy -- at the bombast of it all. Which is why we're happy and sad in equal parts to note that Season Three is about to wrap up, and if Sunday's showdown between the Monarch's flying cocoon and Jonas Jr's Voltron-inspired superrobot -- with henchmen flung everywhere and the titular teenagers nowhere to be seen -- is just the lead-in to the August 24 season finale, we're literally a-tingle with anticipation for the real deal.. To that end, we report to you that io9 has cooked up possible Venture Bros. spoilers for either this season or the show in general -- nothing that will knock your socks off if you've been at all paying attention, but still, nicely spelled out nonetheless. • Top Ten "Family Guy" Newscasts

  If we were to be perfectly honest with you, we'd have to admit that we do not watch Family Guy that often. First off, we're not convinced that it's actually a situation comedy so much as an extended, endless riff on other comedies -- which, to our mind, makes it the TV equivalent of a jam band, and we ain't truckin' with that. Second off, it makes us anxious. That having been said, these clips -- part of Adult Swim's Top Ten Family Guy Newscasts -- are pretty darn funny. • "Ren and Stimpy" Storyboards Are Basically The Federalist Papers Of Today's Cartoons

  We're fascinated by excerpts from the John Kricfalusi papers at the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archive, which we heard about via Boing Boing and which, in their stripped-down amazingness, seem like nothing less than the undiluted DNA of a thousand hours of Adult Swim. Also: you can practically hear the demented voices of Ren Höek and Stimpson J. Cat in your head while reading the dialogue. Man, oh man, that show was excellent for a while.
