TEAR IT UP!
Glory (for which he won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar) at 8, then Philadelphia at 10:15, followed by A Soldier's Story (1984) at 12:30 and A Mighty Quinn (1989) at 2:30 in the morning. Weird choices, no? The first two, though both good movies with great performances, weren't really starring roles for Denzel. And the second two were like his thirty-second and thirty-third best movies. No Malcolm X, no Training Day, no Mississippi Masala. (Which, if you haven't seen it, is a damn sexy movie.) Of course, we don't have to pay for these films, Turner Classic Movies does. Plus, it's Denzel - and who doesn't love Denzel?
