Yes Man is the new Jim Carrey movie that’s a lot like old Jim Carrey movies like Liar Liar and not so much like newer Jim Carrey movies like The Number 23. You can do your own math here, but this is probably more of a good thing than a bad thing, particularly since this Jim Carrey movie has something no other Jim Carrey movie has: Zooey Deschanel. I’ve made my feelings clear on this subject, but just for the record I am in favor of this development. Since I had to see Yes Man anyway, I’m glad there were scenes with Ms. Deschanel singing humorous synth-pop songs to balance the scenes in which Mr. Carrey scotch-tapes his face into strange expressions.
