I haven't seen it, but the smarter critics seem to have loved it (and the dumber critics hated it), Stephen Rea's in it, Stuart Gordon's directing---it sounds terrific. I dunno, man---I understand that y'all are trying to be hip and snarky and Gawkeresque, but your habit of ironically praising crappy movies and ironically dissing good (and especially indie) movies is... not as ironic as you seem to think.

Well, we were kind of joking around... but we're also setting low expectations for ourselves because it sounds like our kind of movie: dark comedy, satire, sex scenes... hell, Stephen Rea's in it. Isn't there a rule that says Stephen Rea is never in terrible movies?

Let the kid have fun (Phelps, I mean). Even though he's an athlete, he's still a kid and what guy didn't want to party with hot chicks and be on SNL when they were younger (or even now)?

That said, Sean's a step up from Brian's usual writing. Plus fewer typographical errors- but maybe that's the editor's problem?

The Nylon writer's lead-in is hack writing at its worst--what a loser. If you read Nylon, you deserve this prose. But Flanagan's notion that meeting up around TSP to chat with someone, professionally, whatever, makes you "a douche" [really--can't we retire this unfortunate term? I don't think I've ever known any women who douche; didn't that go out in the sixties?] makes a douche of me for, um, 25 years, and practically everyone I know. Flanagan, you are a cry-baby. The information out there doesn't really support the fact that Hillary supporters are moving towards McCain in absurd numbers. I don't think most supporters can vote for Hillary, then turn around and vote for someone as fanatical as Palin. If anything, it takes away from any appeal that McCain had, beyond a token vote for any woman.

You know who comes across as a douche? You. Your jealousy and disdain is so transparent, you didn't need the disclaimer. But when you added it, you became a douche for trying to be self-aware and flippant about your clear hatred for this guy, claiming only a fraction of said hatred is from jealousy. Suuuure.

Basically, from the entire post, I've gleaned you don't like Dano because he took a part from you and a friend, he has worked with "genius" directors, he "sucked the life out of the room," whatever that means, he picked a coffee shop and a hipster bar for an interview and he joined a band.

Hmmm.

I don't know the guy, so I can't really vouch for his douchey-ness or lack thereof. But your reasons seem rather douchey, to me.
