5. If These Walls Could Talk 2. This sweeping lesbian love saga was a bit too Lifetime Movie Of The Week for our tastes, but the Emmy voters loved it: in addition to giving a Best Supporting Actress statue to Vanessa Redgrave, voters awarded this HBO sequel with three other nominations in leading categories, including Best Made For Television Film. Not only is it a strong and passionate artistic achievement, there are, of course, many sexy moments: from Chloe Sevigny and Michelle Williams making out in front of a stunned male neighbor to Sharon Stone and Ellen Degeneres exploring every inch of each other. We mentioned this film and the Sevigny-Williams sex scene in an unrelated post on Friday, with the post and NSFW clip here.

4. Mulholland Drive. When we went to a New Orleans Film Festival advance screening of this film, people were leaving the theater in droves about midway through. It took us a minute to realize they were all going to the bathroom to play with themselves thanks to the film's unbelievably sexy love scenes between Laura Harring and Naomi Watts. 3. Secretary. This movie could have been subtitled: "Work and other sadomasochistic activities." Maggie Gyllenhaal is spanked, made to crawl on the floor while carrying paper in her teeth, and to fall in love with James Spader. And, more importantly, she enjoys every minute of it. Depsite the ridiculous Sleeping Beauty-esque climax, it's not the least bit surprising this movie rose above the independent pile-on of the early 2000's to become a mainstream DVD smash.

2. Basic Instinct. Can you believe that some moviegoers were unsure who the killer was? SPOILER ALERT: It was Sharon Stone, you bleeding idjits. On a lighter note, the most memorable nude scene in move history almost didn't happen-- after all, it wasn't in Joe Eszterhas's infamous screenplay. And whenever you see Sharon Stone on TV telling you she didn't know the camera was going to be right between her legs? Laugh. [Very NSFW clip follows.]

1. Sex & Lucia. Several of you suggested this film-- as if we could've left it off in our right minds! A lonely writer's craziest fan picks him up in a restaurant, takes him home, and gives him the best sex a human being has ever had, then stays faithful to him even after his untimely death-- while a guy with a huge dick tries to get in her pants. The sexual energy of this film is so unrelenting, it's impossible to watch alone without taking off your clothes. Watching as a couple? Forget about it. It'll take at least three viewings to get through the whole two hours. We don't want to spoil any of the raunch, so here's a trailer instead:

We know we've bombarded you with sex scenes today, but it's Friday, and you deserve some relief.

And so we continue our list of The Sexiest Movies of All-Time with the first half of the Top 10...

10. 9 1/2 Weeks. The older guys in the neighborhood bragged about having seen this movie five times in one week. Obviously, they kept going back to the local one-screen movie house because of this film's naughty sex scenes. [NSFW clip.]

9. Y Tu Mama Tambien. This is one of the few films we've ever seen willing to admit that sex is almost always disappointing for straight women. Sorry, it's just the facts (which state that 60% of women are dissatisfied with sex, while 60% of men think they are great lovers.) Strangely enough, this also made it a great date movie-- the movie sets such a low bar for your post-DVD adventures that you're bound to have a memorable roll in the hay later on. Ana López Mercado and Gael García Bernal? The most underrated couple of the century so far. [NSFW clip.]

8. The Graduate. "Mrs. Robinson, are you trying to seduce me?" They tried, they really tried, to make Anne Bancroft appear old, haggard, and Cleopatra-looking. They failed-- but not without success of a different kind-- she's still just as appealing as ever, when she was busy playing a seductress in forgotten Marilyn Monroe movies and other TCM staples. You may have forgotten how hot movies could be when they just allowed the actors to dance around each other in late-night awkwardness...

7. Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down. How the hell do you make a rape fantasy movie this believable while keeping it sexy? You have Pedro Almodovar at the helm... and put together an incredibly desirable Spanish cast and try to keep things from become too absurd. Did it work? You be the judge.

6. The Summer of '42. It seems obvious now that Hollywood studios would line up to finance a cheap and tasteful coming of age sex drama, complete with a teenage boy's deflowering at the hands of the neighborhood goddess, but you have to remember that in 1971, there was no Porky's, Meatballs, or even-- gasp-- American Pie 2. The film, of course, was one of the most successful of the decade and went on to be imitated to near death. Near death.

We continue our list with the Top 20 sexiest films ever made.

If you need a refresher, here are 30-21, 31-40, and 50-41.

20. Boogie Nights. Come on, you don't actually need an explanation for why this is here, do you? This film is about the 70s porn explosion and it involves Julianne Moore and Heather Graham, not to mention Burt Reynolds. For God's sake!

19. Do The Right Thing. It seems like a century has passed since Spike Lee's monumental classic Do The Right Thing landed like a meteorite and sent the nation reeling. Do you remember the time when Spike used to star in his own movies? As seen here, he was actually a decent actor and, more importantly, Rosie Perez wasn't intolerable.

18. A History of Violence. You wouldn't think a guy who made a movie about people putting VHS tapes in their vaginas would ever be able to make a movie as sexy as a History of Violence, but David Cronenberg pulls it off-- in this case, thanks entirely to the sex scene that starts 7:00 into this clip.

17. Some Like It Hot. The greatest line, the greatest ending, the funniest scene, and one of the best onscreen couples ever (Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe... although Jack Lemmon and Joe E. Brown are a pretty hot duo.) What more could you ask for? Scene after scene of some of the sexiest comic moments in film history would be too much, wouldn't it? But Some Like It Hot delivers, in a way that no movie has been able to since. Check out Marilyn and her, um, "Bosom Companions," in this vintage trailer.

16. Gone with the Wind. Is this movie still sexy? We saw it for the first time only a few years ago and wondered what the big deal was... right up until the concluding scene, when (SPOILERS!) Rhett doesn't give a good goddamn what you think, Scarlett. Ever since, we've tried to figure out how the hell Clark Gable got so suave and how we could even hold a candle to it. You'd do right by watching this nine-minute clip, with which the epic film concludes.

15. Unfaithful. We don't get it-- you're married to Richard Gere and you're seduced by Oliver Martinez? Is it because Gere wears glasses? That seems to be the only explanation for Diane Lane's falling for Kylie Minogue's real life beau in this surprise success from Fatal Attraction director Adrian Lyne. Either way, we don't mind this one-- especially after a twist that could have served as a much better ending for Fatal Attraction itself.

14. The Hunger. No list of sex and movies is complete with a hot vampire movie. No list of sex and movies is complete with this hot vampire movie, starring the sumptuous trio of Catherine Denueve, David Bowie, and Susan Sarandon. Succulent.

13. Out of Sight. The best part of Out of Sight wasn't the famous trunk scene (pictured above), or the scintillating presence of then-budding-star (and then-tolerable) Jennifer Lopez, or even George Clooney's breakthrough performance. Rather, it was Steven Soderberg's deft balance of action, comedy, and romance to turn a preposterous love story in a very sexy near-classic. By keeping Lopez and Clooney away from each other for most of the film, while simultaneously allowing their characters to toy with each other throughout, made for a huge breath of fresh air in 1997.

12. The More the Merrier. Jean Arthur is engaged to a real schmuck, a guy who's engaged to her but sees no need to get married. A lodger in Arthur's apartment (long story) falls in love with her and, knowing the lady is being strung along, decides to make his move. Although this scene is often named as the sexiest in movie history (the kiss itself is singled out for praise by most film critics), The More The Merrier was overshadowed by another 1943 film on our list (can you guess which one?) and has fallen into near-obscurity. Wanna help raise it from oblivion?

11. The Postman Always Rings Twice. "The whole reason for that movie is sex, and that's why I wanted to do it." - Jack Nicholson. Usually, updating a sexy classic just ends in vulgarity (Psycho, starring Vince Vaughn, anyone?) and while the almost-rape scene in David Mamet's 1982 version of the Postman Always Rings Twice could make the whole movie a turnoff for some, the steamy Depression-Era atmosphere and continuous lust-filled overtones add up to one hot flick. 40. American Beauty. American Beauty-- this was a big movie, right? We seem to recall some sort of Academy Award being handed out? Yes, many people would like to forget this was so critically, commercially, and awarded-ly lauded in the late 1990s... for good reason. This Kevin Spacey-led comic melodrama did not age well. At all. But parts of the movie escape unscathed: was the incredible art direction, cinematography, and Chris Cooper's terrifying performance as a self-hating homosexual and the psycho next door. His kiss with Kevin Spacey is still a delight to watch, even with the shock worn off after nine years.

39. Law of Desire. From AfterElton: "This was the first Almodovar film to really make a huge international splash, and while reviews were mostly good, it's only now, 20 years later, that the plea at its heart, for everyone to be themselves and specifically against living a sexually closeted existence, stands out most clearly. It's also notable for a very sexually explicit performance by Banderas, which contrasts sharply with his sexless characterization of Tom Hanks' lover in Philadelphia, an American film released six years later."

38. 10. There are so many romantic and sexy moments in Blake Edwards' classic rom-com "10" that every scene is sure to be somebody's favorite. Ours? Nope, not the slow-mo beach run to make you forget Ursula Andress. Nope, not the first sex scene. We prefer this one (click here for the YouTube video clip.) Who knew Dudley Moore was such a major playa?

37. Tristan + Isolde. This summary, via Kids In Mind, makes this PG-13 movie sound a lot racier than it really is: "A young woman takes off her clothes off... giving body heat to an unconscious and wounded young man; another woman does the same, they hold him from either side and press against his body (bare backs, shoulders and legs are visible)." Did we mention James Franco and Rufus Sewell are in it? We might just find ourselves going gay if those two ever did a sequel to Brokeback Mountain.

36. From Here To Eternity. There was a time when this was risque, so since risque romanticisim = sexy, we'll go with this for #36. A great, surprising, and deeply moving film that landed Frank Sinatra a well-deserved Oscar and jump-started his failing career. Ol' Blue Eyes? Now that's sexy...

35. Don Juan DeMarco. See above photo of Johnny Depp for an explanation as to why this film, about the fictional lover Don Juan's re-emergence into, first, a psychiatrist's office and later, into his love life.

34. Rear Window. Sometimes, it only takes one scene to make a movie incredibly sexy overall-- in this case, one kiss. The kiss carries itself throughout Alfred Hitchock's Rear Window's two hours of suspense, murder, and paranoia. Not to be missed, under any circumstances.

33. Dirty Dancing. There was a time when "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" was considered a great tune, when Jennifer Grey was sexy and had yet to have a career-ending nose job, and Patrick Swayze was the biggest movie star in the world... if only for a couple of weeks. Relive those moments with this sequence, the one we all remember.

32. My Own Private Idaho. Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix play gay prostitutes in Gus Van Sandt's surreal (to put it politely) adaptation of Henry IV, Part 1. According to Wikipedia Van Sandt "decided to send the script to the agents of Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix, figuring that their agents would reject the script. However, Reeves' agent was amenable to the project, but Phoenix's agent wouldn't even show the screenplay to the young actor. Not to be deterred, Van Sant got the idea for Reeves to personally deliver the film's treatment to Phoenix at his home in Florida. Reeves did so over the Christmas holidays, riding his 1974 Norton Commando motorcycle from his family home in Canada to the Phoenix family ranch in Micanopy, Florida, outside Gainesville." 31. The Blue Angel. With this film, Marlene Dietrich a) launched herself to international fame and b) more importantly, served as the basis for the best scene in Blazing Saddles. Check out her then-controversial song-and-dance number from the oldest film on our list:
