Hey Everyone, Let's Join the Sex Party

In November, right after the American Presidential election, we brought you word of an emerging (but subsequently little-noticed) political party in Australia: The Sex Party. Here's what we said:

In response to "moral campaigners and prudish politicians," Australia's open-minded citizens have decided to strike back.
On Thursday, the Great Down Under will announce the only political news worth reporting on: the launch of the fortunately-named Australian Sex Party. And no, it's not that key-exchange game your Mom told you about.

This week, Canada got in on that action with its very own-- and rather different-- Sex Party...

Although they were resoundly defeated in yesterday's parliamentary elections-- as if anyone knew they would be on the ballot-- the Sex Party of British Columbia has only just begun to (fuck or) fight. They have launched a real publicity blitz that is gaining national and, ultimately, worldwide attention, starting with its catchy slogan: "Sex is good. Let's make it better!"

"We're not running to get elected. Obviously it's impossible, especially in a first-past-the-post system that discriminates against small parties," said John Ince, a Vancouver sex shop owner and leader of the Sex Party.
The party's platform touts the benefits of a healthy sex life for personal growth and the betterment of society.
It proposes revamping the provincial education program to gradually encourage students' sexual activity, whereby extensive sexual experimentation would precede first intercourse.
Teens would learn the basics of healthy and satisfying sexual liaisons, such as trust, emotional intimacy, relaxation and verbal communication. They would be offered courses in erotic massage, and taught not to discriminate against gays or lesbians.
Furthermore, the Sex Party would require that all public parks and beaches larger than one hectare (2.5 acres) be designated areas for nudists in a bid "to normalize all parts of the human body and de-stigmatize human sexual organs."

Can you imagine that ever passing here in the next 500 years? Central Park overrun by nudists-- meaning, besides that "nudists" who walk up to you and expose themselves? Never gonna happen... but stranger things have happened in Canada and we'd certainly vote for a Sex Party candidate if we could...

It promises to make it easier for the elderly living in long-term care facilities to have sex, for example, by instituting training for "specialized sexual care nurses."
"Other politicians don't want to discuss these kinds of issues. It's very scary to them," commented Scarlett Lake. The former exotic dancer who now owns an escort service is one of three Sex Party candidates in this election.
She proposes changing Victoria Day, a statutory holiday in Canada that celebrates the birthday of Queen Victoria, who reigned during an era of prudery in Britain, to "Eros Day" for the Greek mythological god of lust and intercourse.

"Specialized sexual care nurses" as part of its platform... ex-strippers/escort Madams-turned candidates... making Victoria Day the Crazy Lust and Greek Sex Orgy day... all that is bound to garner a few token votes. Unfortunately, for now, that's all they're likely to get...

A tourist caused a mini riot at an "anything goes" adult sex party at an Australian nudist colony.

So how does one cause such outrage, if anything goes at this party...?

By refusing to get naked.

The monthly sex party was promoted to boost weak tourism to a resort that was once named the country's top group-sex hotspot for naked swingers.

Four naked women, uncomfortable with the way he was "eyeing them off," confronted the clothed man and demanded he drop trou, said the manager, Tony Fox.

"He then threatened to bash me, there was some argy-bargy and I ordered him off the premises and police were called."

Argy-bargy. Best new phrase of the day.

This is one of our favorite music videos of 2008. David Byrne never ceases to amaze us. If it wasn't for MTV the world could have been so much cooler. It's your fault too.

Pitchfork, this century's authority on music, has released a whopping 2008 list featuring the top 40 videos of the year. Yeah, that already-boring Beyonce one did make the cut, but that's the very least of this batch.

In response to "moral campaigners and prudish politicians," Australia's open-minded citizens have decided to strike back.

On Thursday, the Great Down Under will announce the only political news worth reporting on: the launch of the fortunately-named Australian Sex Party. And no, it's not that key-exchange game your Mom told you about.

Party convenor Fiona Patten, who is head of the national adult retail and entertainment lobby group the Eros Association, said the trigger had been the government's decision to place a mandatory filter on the Internet.
Under the plan, designed to shield children from online porn and violence, Internet service providers will have to filter out pornography and other material deemed inappropriate in their feeds to houses and schools.
Users wanting access to uncensored material would have to opt out of the service, the government said when it announced the plan in January.
Patten was scathing of the move, which she said would damage the porn industry, arguing that material that was deemed acceptable 20 years ago would now be banned.

Oh no, no the porn industry! Remember, folks, if you ban any form of pornography, you are only helping its sales numbers worldwide. Meanwhile, if you want to get in on the Australian Sex Party, you have until Thursday morning to arrive in Melbourne for the press conference and the cocktails and orgy that will surely follow...

Before the news about Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch knocked everything else off the front pages, the New York Times had a story about teenage makeout parties in Chile, which, they term, "was once of Latin America's most sexually conservative countries."

The best part about these Chilean makeout fests is that they are actually contests... making it pretty hard to imagine Chile having been "sexually conservative" in the recent past...

[T]he youth of Chile are bumping and grinding to a reggaetón beat. At the Bar Urbano disco, boys and girls ages 14 to 18 are stripping off their shirts, revealing bras, tattoos and nipple rings.

Everyone is making out, some without even saying a word to each other first...

About 800 teenagers sway and bounce to lyrics imploring them to “Poncea! Poncea!”: make out with as many people as they can.
And make out they do — with stranger after stranger, vying for the honor of being known as the “ponceo,” the one who pairs up the most.

Wow-- haven't these people ever heard of mono? We're guessing they're all pretty much past that phase already. We can't wait for the promoters to realize they can follow up with a sequel, maybe for a slightly older crowd, one that involves chanting "Blow! Blow!"

We think you can guess what we mean by that, although we'll give you a hint: it's something you see on every tropical beach during spring break.

Women Host Sex Party With Six Teenage Boys

We didn't get to Friday's big orgy story, mainly because we were totally weirded out by it and needed some time to let it all sink in.

Back in April, two women in Bucks County, PA hosted a sleepover involving a half-dozen local 14- and 15-year-old boys, an incident which only just came to light in the past few days. The arrest of the dangerous duo on a variety of the usual charges (unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, etc.) leaves us with several dangling questions...

Angela Honeycutt, 38, and Lynne Long, 45, both of Bucks County, Pa., are accused of a series of allegedly sexual incidents April 14 as the teens, ages 14 to 16, attended a sleepover at Long's Lower Makefield home.

Honeycutt, a mother of two young children, is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old and performed sex acts with a 15-year-old, CBS3.com reported. [Fox News]

1) Why were the boys there in the first place? You need six boys to babysit your kids or something? Seems to us that Long is less innocent than she seems in the molestations carried out by Honeycutt. (Honeycutt is accused of having sex with one boy, going down on another, letting yet another finger her, and of flashing all the boys at once, among other crimes. Honeycutt, by the way, did not live with Long and is an unexplained presence in the house that night.)

2) How did this stay quiet for so long? While we, no matter how traumatized by these events, could never tell our parents of our involvement in it, apparently one of these teenage boys has a more open relationship with his folks. The question isn't about telling them-- rather, how was it kept quiet for so long? High school is full of bragging, rumor, and just general nastiness-- you would think someone of authority would've found out within two months. Maybe kids are getting better at keeping their ranks tight-- or, as we fear the most, they were so disturbed by what happened that they couldn't tell a soul. Until they did...

3) What the hell was Angela Honeycutt doing there? (And no, "Angela Honeycutt" is not the name of any porn star we could find.) It was Lynne Long's house, after all, and Long had nothing to do with what happened beyond watching and telling the kids to keep mum. Was this some sick setup/conspiracy engineered by the women together to host a wild orgy?

We may never know... and so we move on...

School's Out, Let's Have a Giant Orgy

Students in Englad, including "a disturbingly high number of girls," celebrated the end of the school term with a huge orgy in a village square.

Nearly 200 students in Wray, Lancashire marked the end of their eleventh year with a public sex party. According to school officials, "a disturbingly high number of girls" were involved. Is that proper British talk for lezzing it up, high school style? There must have been plenty of boys involved, however, because one was hospitalized and the school "was forced to help get girls emergency contraception."

Teen Prisoners Have Wild Sex Party on Valentine's Day

It seems some Australian teens took a page from our homeboy Corey Worthington over Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, these teens were juvenile delinquents who were supposed to be guarded and locked down but who instead paid an unexpected and well-received visit to a nearby girl's dormitory.

Having spent time in the tank as a teenager myself, speaking strictly as Scanner Brian, I can definitely say that I would've rather snuck out to visit the girl's prison than to make any sort of daring escape. Then again, I would've probably been too terrified to just waltz into another prison and propose a wild orgy on Valentine's Day, as these lovable tykes apparently did:

A Territory mother said she was "furious" when her 15-year-old son - who is serving three months for a minor crime - told her he had taken part in the jailhouse sex escapade.

"He told me that they had all had sex in the one room - it was a big Valentine's Day sex romp," the 31-year-old mother said.

The guards had left the doors open-- in the male and female lock-ups, it appears-- on Valentine's Day and the guys and girls congregated for some consensual lovemakin'.

The mother said her son and the other teens had laughed off the orgy as "fun and games".

But she said several parents were now "in talks" with a lawyer about possibly taking civil action. "One father of a girl involved said he was going to sue the pants off them," the mother said.

Yep, that prison is in deep doo-doo. Ironically, the party animal of the Aussie nation has shrugged off the wrath of his parents and is going into the party-making business big time. Man, and we thought America had f-ed up that whole parental guidance thing...
