Politician Probably Should've Taken Down Scandalous Facebook Profile First

This might be the first case of a political photo scandal on the internet eventually finishing off a politician's career. Ray Lam must be cursing the very existence of Facebook after two photos posted to his account caused him to drop out of an electoral grudge match.

Lam, who took down his Facebook account yesterday after the leak hit the Canadian press (the images above are of other Ray Lam's), didn't delete the photos from the web fast enough...

This photo, along with another one depicting Lam groping a woman's breasts, cost the candidate his standing in British Columbia's New Democratic Party and his spot on the ticket in a civil race. This is a setback for Canadian Scanner readers, for sure, as the Globe and Mail makes clear:

Mr. Lam's website says that he has a background in social services and non-profit groups.

Mr. Lam has been involved for several years with the Pride Society, a Vancouver-based advocacy group for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community. According to a Pride Society web site, Mr. Lam has been involved in several community organizations and was chair of Youthquest, Lesbian & Gay Youth Society of British Columbia.

So, if he's interested in all this gay activism, there is a strong possibility he's a homosexual, which means he wasn't even bothering these people sexually. Oh well-- behold the power of Facebook: it can't find anyone who believes it will last another two years, but it can bring down politicians with harmless "risque photos." Scary.

Ashley Biden, the cute 27-year-old daughter of the Vice President is apparently this year's Kate Moss. Remember how someone secretly filmed the supermodel doing blow at Pete Doherty's recording session? The same thing happened to Ash, only it was at a party, she knew she was being filmed, and now the tape is about to fetch six figures...

If it's true. While we do believe a tape exists, so far no one's been able to prove the cokehead in the video is the First Daughter. Even the New York Post is unsure-- although, of course they milk the story for the little it's worth:

The woman appears to resemble Ashley Biden, 27, a social worker for a Delaware child-welfare agency...

[She] makes repeated references to the drugs, said the lawyers, who said they viewed the tape about 15 times.

"At one point she pretty much complains that the line isn't big enough," said the second lawyer, who declined to identify himself. "And she talks about her dad."

Biden has been an outspoken crusader against drugs, coining the term "drug czar" in 1982 while campaigning for a more forceful "war on drugs." [NY Post]

Whoever she is, she clearly has a drug problem. According to a variety of sources, the young woman on the tape uses a big red straw to snort up a boatload of coke before lashing out at people around her and telling them to "shut the fuck up." (It's also rumored that Biden's longtime boyfriend is pictured in the same frame as her, which would make the tape appear to be genuine.)

The douchebag who filmed all this tried initially to obtain $1.2 for the original, but has scaled back his greed to a mere $400,000. One report says two companies have offered well over six figures for the tape, but not the full 400 g's. Yet...

Back in November, we alerted you to the story of Susanna Klatten, Germany's richest women, a billionaire and heir to a BMW fortune tainted by Nazism, who was embroiled in a then-breaking story of blackmail, sex tapes, extramarital affairs, and millions of euros in cash.

This week, the trial of her one-time lover, a creep by the name of Helg Sgarbi, a Swiss businessman who apparently specializes in these types of crimes. As the court date approached, new and shocking information came to light that reopened old wounds throughout the country and the world...

In 2007, Sgarbi seduced Klatten at an Austrian spa and later at a Munich hotel. It was the hotel owner himself who filmed the hidden-camera sex tape, according to our report:

...Klatten's alleged lover and a friend of his, a hotel owner who filmed sexual trysts in his establishment. The duo hoped to received 40 million euros, but had to settle for 7.5 million from Klatten. Klatten, who helped foil her own kidnapping at the age of 16, was already talking to the cops.

Klatten may have hoped that, in going to the police, her husband would not learn of the plot, affair, and the lost 7.5 million. Too late-- there was a leak and soon the scandal made international headlines. Then there was this, according to Gawker:

What motivated Sgarbi? Reportedly, his real name was Helg Russak, and he was the descendant of forced laborers who worked in BMW factories during World War II — which made his choice of Geiss even odder.

Klatten's grandfather, Günther Quandt, served as an advisor to Hitler; his factories made batteries for Germany's submarines. His first wife, Magda, divorced him and married Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's propaganda minister. The Quandt family, which had denied involvement in the regime for decades, agreed to fund an investigation into their past after a documentary film presented incontrovertible evidence of BMW's complicity. We almost started to feel sympathy for the girl... but that was before we learned that he was also guilty of extorting money from three other wealthy women, none of whom are yet rumored to have any Nazi ties...

Yesterday, on the first day of his trial, Helg confessed to all the charges and was sentenced to a mere six years in prison for sparing Germany a lengthy and embarrassing case. The public, mouths frothing, were left saying, "Wha happen?" and actually expressed great disappointment the thing didn't drag out for months...

Inspired by the news of the latest teacher/student sexual liasons, more than 300 of which were allegedly perpetrated by married elementary teacher Christine McCallum (pictured, from Facebook) with a 13-year-old student after plying him with booze (waste booze much?), we decided it was time for a very important exercise: determining who of these allegedly/ definitely inappropriate teachers you, the readers, would rather. (Rather what? Er, "study under.")

Vote for your picks of the first two pairs of teachers, then those two winners will go on to compete against future winners, until we determine the favorite Teacher Gone Wild. We're told by someone who cares about sports that something called March Madness exists, where winners are determined in a similar fashion. Considering the amount of misbehaving teachers, this may very well go on until March and beyond.

First match: Newest teacher in trouble Christine McCallum. She seems to be saying, "Come 'n get it, tweens!"

Sandy Binkley, the 36-year-old Tennessee teacher who faces three felony counts of stautory rape after allegations of liasons with three different students.

And for the next match, in this corner we have everybody's favorite TILF, all-American beauty Debra Lafave, a married Tampa teacher who carried on with a 14-year-old student. (According to Jossip's roundup of rapey teachers, Nick Carter claims he lost his virginity to her.)

(We really don't see how anyone will beat this frontrunner, but we have to put her up against someone.)

Hey, remember the scandal last fall alleging that Josh Hartnett was up to some "steamy shenanigans" in a public area of London's Soho hotel, and it was all caught on tape by a security camera? This news may for some (ahem) have been followed by days or weeks of jubilation and anticipation.

Well, sadly, just because you want something to be true, doesn't mean it is. London's High Court ruled today that the allegations were false, and awarded him $30,000 in libel damages to be paid by the Daily Mirror, which Josh plans to donate to charity.

Rats.

Scandals Clinging To Sarah Palin Like Trig To Her Pantsuit

Forgive the obnoxious headline-- we're serious that Sarah Palin is becoming bogged down in scandals.

Troopergate is, of course, the one investigation she hasn't been able to talk her way out of. With that hanging over her and threatening to derail the McCain campaign, a second major revelation broke last night, one that probably won't change any hearts or minds about the Republican VP candidate...

Palin's power-crazed tenure as the very popular Governor of a heavily Republican state has seen a pattern of ethical lapses and outright abuses of power, topped by this one: According to an Associated Press investigation, Palin is believed to have:

1) charged the state of Alaska for expenses incurred, including airline tickets, to transport her children to their father's snowmobile race.

2) amended her expense reports to falsely claim the children (and the family, of course) were actually on these kinds of outings as part of "state business."

3) charged the state for a trip to New York she took with Bristol that including a five-day stay in a high-priced hotel... all for a five-hour leadership conference in the city that took place on only one of those days.

4) when reporters began inquiries as part of this investigation, Palin allegedly ordered unspecified reports altered, usually adding either "First Family attending" or "First Family invited" in an attempt to justify the presence of her family even when the family had not been requested by event organizers.

It was also noted that Palin's tax records has already raised questions because the family did not report its reimbursed travel costs as income.

Maybe it's because of our sleep deprivation, but for some reason, this story is hilarious: a gay pirate radio station is disrupting Hong Kong's air traffic control.

This is nothing against Sarah Palin-- after all, all GOP candidates are a little bit frightening, a little bit awesome in their determination and genuine will to make the world a better place-- but is she doomed?

No one here in Minneapolis is even talking about the convention. Every conversation at every restaurant in town is centered around one question: what's going to happen to Governor Palin, what with all these rumors and controversies that are swirling around her...

First, there was this e-mail, which we received from reader profrobert on Friday, alerting us to the possibility that Palin's fifth daughter, born less than five months ago, is not hers.

This means her water broke in Texas. She hung around to give a 30-minute speech. She then went to the airport and GOT ON A PLANE. TO ALASKA. I don't know where she was in Texas, but DFW-ANC non-stop is a seven-hour flight.

He makes a great point: who is this person who has her water break and then waits around not only to give a speech but for a plane to take her across most of the entire fucking continent. Her husband claims that a) they just wanted the baby to be 100% Alaskan and b) that his daughter's five month or so absence from school was the result of a bad case of mono. Suuuuuuure it was...

So, of course, the liberal blogosphere goes batshit over the story but no mainstream media outlet wants anything to do with it. Gustav sweeps Palin off the front pages, then the RNC delay further buries the rumors. Meanwhile, Palin is at a rally where she doesn't address the rumors but causes another stir by saying:

“Then we have our daughter Bristol, she’s on the bus with the newborn, and then we have our daughter Willow, who is here, and our youngest daughter Piper,” Ms. Palin said as she introduced her family. “On that bus we have our son, Trig, who is a beautiful baby boy we welcomed into the world just in April..."

Of course, Palin's phrasing would've been completely normal under any other circumstances. But conspiracy theorists flipped again, saying Palin wasn't even saying the words "her" and "baby" one after the other, implying that perhaps Palin is setting herself up to eventually confess to lying. Meanwhile, photos showing that Palin had no baby bump during her pregnancy were all deleted from the Governor's official websites. (We are trying our best to stay out of this, but must add that we defy anyone to locate photos of Palin in the nine months leading up to April 2008 in which she appears pregnant. As soon as an un-Photoshopped photo comes our way, we'll believe her version of the events.)

Then, the bigger story: Palin announces the same daughter is currently five month's pregnant, thus ruling out the possibility of Bristol having already given birth just a few months ago. And while we believe this, again, it doesn't rule out the possibility that Palin is lying: after all, no one is going to ask her to prove conception date. For all we know, she's really only a few months pregnant and that, by the time the baby's born, it will be too late for anyone to stop Palin from becoming Vice President because of the lie. (Side note: Bristol's boyfriend is a self-proclaimed "redneck" who says on his MySpace profile that he doesn't want kids. Wonderful.)

Meanwhile, the Troopergate story (as winking bloggers are referring to it), the mere mention of which earned us a drubbing from her supporters in a previous post, has knocked the pregnancy story off the front pages, albeit for a fairly innocus reason: Palin just now hired a lawyer to defend her in the two-month old investigation. Hmmm....

In any case, the liberal HuffPo has realized Palin is a weak spot on the ticket (we've heard that from numerous fence sitters among the Minneapolis public.) Here's what their front page looked like in the wee hours of this morning:

Admits She Hasn't 'Really Focused On Iraq'... Alaska National Guard General: Palin Plays No Role In National Defense... 17 Year-Old Daughter Pregnant...

Also, did you guys hear the Fox News commentator and others pick up the talking point that Palin has "national security experience" because Alaska is "so close to" Russia? What? That's like saying Scanner Nicole and I have foreign policy experience because we're located near Denmark.

All this adds up to one thing: Palin, as a VP candidate, is in trouble. The rumors we're hearing from reliable GOP sources center on two possibilities: 1) Palin may drop out, citing family commitments, and time this withdrawal so that McCain's second choice will be accepted without question by GOP leadership, for fear of losing the election if they don't immediately unite or 2) Palin will continue to cause McCain problems to the point where he will drop Palin himself, but in favor of a female candidate or even Joe Lieberman.

While both seem highly unlikely events, either of them is much less far-fetched now than they were even 24 hours ago...

You know we're kidding when we used the words "stopped" and "broken" in that headline, right?

College President (not the student-elected kind) Robert Paxton was at a July 4th lake party when he was caught in the above photo helping a lovely young lass with her beverage:

"If you want to know the truth, the thing was broken," he said. "I never opened the tap on any keg."

Asked what he was doing with the keg suspended over the woman's open mouth, Paxton said: "Nothing. The thing didn't work. I was laughing at them. You know, if I was doing anything, I was grabbing it and trying to put it back down."

Uhhh... right. So that explains the fact that you are working the tap itself... how?

Wisely, Paxton decided not to fight the charges raised by his own Iowa Central Community College board and simply walked off the job, collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars on his way out. Amazingly, though, the story of how Paxton got a bunch of his underage son's friends drunk doesn't end there:

Paxton also denied that his 19-year-old son was drinking that day, yet police records show the young Paxton was picked up for a DUI charge later that evening. [DeadSpin]

Wow. This guy is the worst liar ever. Good riddance... after all, underage kids don't need you to help with their beer, creepy old dude.

Christopher Plummer told PageSix a sex story so bizarrely hilarious that we were forced to lift our own ban on linking to the New York Post to share it with you...

The movie star has a new autobiography out in which, according to the gossip rag we love to hate, he tells the following story about gearing up to play Henry V on stage in 1956, a role for which William Shatner was the understudy. (Note that just before the excerpt begins, Plummer has just had a wild one night stand with an unnamed woman...)

"I woke up alone the next morning... (pain) all around my groin and lower abdomen... I started to whimper like a whipped dog. 'So this is what syphilis is like?' I thought. 'I suppose I deserve it, but Christ, how the hell was I to know?'
But instead of being struck down by the disease, Plummer had dislodged a kidney stone and had to undergo a medical procedure with a surgical wire to resolve the problem.
He adds, "It began to sink in... Shatner, my understudy, would have to go on... (It) instantly brought back the pain. I screamed for a nurse who jabbed me with more morphine.
"I knew then that the S.O.B. was going to be a 'star.'" [WENN-- see, we avoided the Post]

Ooh, scandalous! It almost would make more sense of Plummer had contracted syphillis because it would explain his insane assertion that William Shatner became famous for a 1950s stage play by Billy Shakes. Everybody knows it was his rockin' version of "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds."

Some of the blogs are trying to make Gisele Bundchen's "raciest photo shoot ever" into some sort of scandal. People, she's way past legal, she can make her own choices on whether to be nude or not. Where's the scandal in these?

(And by the way, yes, we have seen her in the buff a billion times, but these are... well... let's just say a whole lot buff-er....)

is demonstrating "how to wear denim without wearing denim." But she'd never wear them in real life.
"Only Mario [Testino] could make me take those pictures," says Bundchen. "He was the first photographer that shot me when I started ... People are going to say my butt is showing too much in these but, Im sorry, my butt showed more in Victoria's Secret. For seven years my butt was in every catalogue."

Miley Cyrus, instead of going into hiding (our advice: fuck 'em if they can't take a joke), is responding to the latest "photo scandal" by talking about sex... which ends up reminding her of her idea for a remake of "Sex and the City."

"I'd love to do a younger, cleaner version of Sex and the City," she told US magazine TV Guide.

The singer and actress wear a purity ring signifying her strong Christian faith and desire to remain a virgin until she marries.

She explained: "I like to think of myself as the girl that no-one can get, that no-one can keep in their hand. Even at my age, a lot of girls are starting to fall and I think if [staying a virgin] is a commitment girls make, that's great."

She went on to list her favourite things as her Gibson guitar, her mother, grilled cheese sandwiches and "the Bible. It's my 'how-to' guide for life".

Wait, isn't her boyfriend 22? Maybe that's why he can get away with dating a 15-year-old. He's the only 22 year old left in this country who isn't sleeping with an underage girl.

Okay, that was a joke. Seriously, though-- what do we think about a virginal "Sex And The City?" Isn't that kind of just like "color bars at 2am?"

"I feel empowered when I see my face on a T-shirt. A girl wouldn't be wearing a shirt with me on it just because she liked my show. She must look up to me."

We like this girl more and more with each offhand remark. Then again, we strongly suggest she stay away from remaking recently popular television shows-- haven't you had enough backlash for one year, Ms. Cyrus?

Oh my God! A fifteen-year-old girl posed for private pictures of herself wearing clothing! Call in the Catholic League! Have her parents executed in a public square by a man in a black hood!

Jesus, save us! One of these pictures features Miley Cyrus, who is a role model to seven-year-old girls in every rich white town in Connecticut and in select other regions, was found to have been acting like a fifteen-year-old girl in the presence of her own personal cellphone camera. Miley Cyrus, who has an obligation under the law to go to church seven days a week, keep her head bowed at a 45-degree angle while in public, and marry the first man who kisses her on the mouth, scandalized the nation with these two shameful, shameful photos.

Miley Cyrus has been caught up in yet another photo scandal after an internet hacker accessed her phone's memory and found a series of saucy snaps.
The new pictures allegedly show the singer posing seductively in the shower with only a wet t-shirt covering her modesty, as well as a photo of her showing off her stomach in a skimpy top.
The snaps were reportedly downloaded from the star's personal picture phone memory by a hacker calling himself the Digital Gangster.
According to celebrity [asshole] Perez Hilton, who has the controversial new photographs on his website [complete with moronic, tasteless, offensive, inappropriate, uncalled-for, and cruel "graffiti" on each snap], the hacker is shopping the snaps around to several publications

Yidis Medina was convicted last month of taking bribes to agree to amend the Colombian constitution, posed nude for a men's magazine from her lovely new prison cell.

Medina, who is still facing separate kidnapping charges from an "unrelated" matter (wow-- how she does get around), told SoHo that politics hasn't really helped her in her quest for the perfect existence:

"What I want is to get out of political life, which has brought me so many unwelcome things," she said.

Classic understatement of the day. The unwelcome things include four years of house arrest, which she will serve following the kidnapping trial that is keeping her in the slammer, thanks to

taking illegal favors from government officials in return for voting for the constitutional amendment that permitted the 2006 re-election.
She says she went public with her tale of corruption after the government failed to deliver favors -- including being able to name her friends to local commissions in her home province -- that it had promised in exchange for her vote.

As for the kidnapping, the details are rather vague:

The prosecution announced on July 1 it is investigating Medina for possible ties to rebel group ELN, after a Bucaramanga lawmaker accused her of being involved in kidnapping.

Medina’s lawyer claims Medina simply was a victim of the crime, but the lawmaker accuses Medina of speaking to the kidnappers in a commanding tone and seemed connected to them.

Medina made a classic mistake of even speaking-- the kidnappers would have likley obeyed and become lost in her breasts had she merely exposed them, as she is doing now, from her posh new jail cell:

In Ghana, fifty or more prostitutes drank, cried, and danced at the funeral of an 11-year-old boy, causing considerable public confusion. Why were these poor (and by poor we mean, Ghana-poverty-stricken poor) women in such an uproar?

Some of them who were virtually drunk would occasionally take to the floor and dance for a while, and then move to a canopy where a picture of the deceased was, look at the image and talk to it as if they could be heard by the picture.

DAILY GUIDE learnt that the deceased used to run errands for the call girls as they lived close to his house.

Mr. Bob Atua, a farmer and an uncle to Moses, told DAILY GUIDE that he was grabbed by an unknown woman when he went out to urinate and when he enquired from her why she had held on to him, she responded by asking him what he was doing near her room when he had not come to solicit her services.

A rogue Massachusetts representative is refusing, despite repeated controversy, to resign his seat and has gone on a wild tear through the mean streets of Brookline. The men with the butterfly nets finally caught State Sen. Jim Marzilli this weekend, and sent him to McLean Hospital, where kooks like Sylvia Plath, James Taylor (who it was rumored wrote "Fire And Rain" here), and "A Beautiful Mind's" John Nash all stayed. His checkered past follows him nevertheless and even Teddy Kennedy is said to have cringed at these allegations...

Marzilli was arrested this week in Lowell on charges that include assault and lewd and lascivious conduct. Police said that in once incident the senator grabbed a woman by the crotch and then fled, with police following him on foot through the city.

Police said that at least five women have come forward with complaints, including one who said he followed her making obscene comments. Marzilli was released on $1,500 bail.

$1,500?! That's all? Damn... guess the Democrats still do have a stranglehold among the elitists and homeless people running rampant in the streets. (You know we're kidding, right? Okay, then.)

Connecticut Teens Busted For Classroom BJ

Two teenagers in "Hard Hittin'" New Britain, CT, are facing disciplinary action (and at least one or two embarrassing parental lectures) and their teacher is suspended without pay following shocking revelations that an eighth-grade girl went down on her classmate. In class.

The fun-loving thirteen- or fourteen-year-olds

were in a classroom with other students and a substitute teacher Monday when the incident occurred. Another student recorded the incident with a phone camera. [The Hartford Courant]

Did you catch that? "And a substitute teacher"? Unless we're talking 30-kid classrooms-- and with the state of public schools, we could be-- we're not sure how the sub missed this? You think she's/he's an 80-year-old blind bat/geezer who never received/gave oral sex in their lifetime? Craziness.

Of course, we hate to think of the other possibility: the teacher knew all along and either ogled the couple or, possibly even worse, pretended to continue with the lecture while storing away the images for later pedophilia-inspired masturbation.

The highlight for us, however, is this gem:

Annette Velez has a daughter who attends Pulaski but was not in the classroom where the incident took place. Velez declined to identify her daughter, but said her daughter's knowledge of the incident prompted her to ask for the first time about oral sex.

Admiral in Bush Administration Had Affair In White House Basement

His name, seriously, is Vice Admiral John Stufflebeem. And boy, did he stuff his beam in an early-20s woman in his White House basement love nest...

The juicy/repulsive highlights:

1) It appears a bitter rival on the same career path (or maybe the scorned wom[e]n involved were upset and) came after him. According to USA Today:

an anonymous letter revealed an 18-year-old secret that Stufflebeem thought was long buried and forgotten. The letter accused Stufflebeem of carrying on an eight-month affair with a female State Department staffer while the two were assigned to the White House in 1990.

2) While still living with his wife, who remained oblivious (it seems) to the whole affair, the "37-year-old commander pretended to be a widower, telling the woman that his wife had died of breast cancer and that he was raising his two children on his own, according to the Inspector General's report."

3) Stufflebeem got it on with the unnamed female, who worked for the State Department, "in the White House basement and when the two traveled abroad with the White House travel team. The two engaged in 'passionate kissing' in a car parked near the White House grounds, and he even sexually propositioned the woman's close friend on a trip to London, the report says." Let it never be said the Clinton Administration had more sex in those hallowed halls-- hey, this guy actually got laid in the White House, unlike some former Presidents.

4) On top of all that, the poor woman had to find out he was married from other employees. How embarrassing would that be? You think you're top of the world, baby, just out of college and getting bonked in the fucking White House, then all of a sudden, some dudes you work with say: "What? He told you he's wearing his wedding ring so his kids believe mommy isn't dead? Well, the kids are right-- she ain't fuckin' dead."

5) The affair eventually came to light within the White House hierarchy (Bush 1 knew!), it wasn't until the anonymous letter back in January that Stufflebeem's full story came out and he was completely sacked. The "Boomer" (no, it wasn't a Bush, Sr. nicknname, but a Detroit Lions one) lied to investigators, it is alleged, telling them it was only a chaste "kiss" and that he couldn't even remember the woman's name. Somehow, the whole thing blew over... until now...

Vito Fossella Promotes Family Values... Two Families At A Time

As we suspected, Vito Fossella is not the goody-two-shoes, family-values conservative, Dad of the Year winner the Republican Party made him out to be. The New York City Congressman, already the worst person in the world for bringing his best friend Dick Cheney to Brooklyn and Staten Island to fundraise for him, has outdone himself again.

And we thought Eliot Spitzer's was the ultimate hypocrite for going after whorehouses while himself visiting Ashley Alexandra Dupre in his spare time:

Representative Vito J. Fossella, the Staten Island Republican who was arrested on drunken-driving charges in Virginia last week, acknowledged on Thursday that he had fathered a daughter, now 3, in an extramarital affair. But he declined to address questions about his political future. [New York Times]

It keeps getting better: not only that, but Vito has been seen recently without his wedding ring. Dude-- you're a public official, people in the gossip community (i.e. the New York Post, Daily News, and Reuters) tend to notice shit like that. And if you're going to cheat on your wife (and kids-- that is, those kids you have with your current wife), please leave her at least the dignity to be able to end the marriage herself-- in other words, let her be the one to take her ring off first. Don't get all Rudy Guiliani on us and call a press conference announcing your divorce so she can learn about it from NY1 News.

Damn-- these small town elections are learning way too much from the Democratic Presidential candidates. Even a County Comissioner's race in some unknown Florida town is getting out of hand, as Kevin Becker (D-Gay Man) and Brian Blair (R-Former Professional Wrestler/Hater of Gay Man) are beating each other to bloody pulps.

Konica Minolta is taking away a gay widow's death benefits because of a hidden clause preventing beneficiaries from moving "out of state." [CNN]

Would anyone be offended if we called the Royal Family a dirty bunch of pervs? Too late. Actually, they're innocent this time (and even if they were, a gay "sex act" is not necessarily perverted. Unless it takes place on Anton Scalia's docket.)

This is exactly what we prayed for in last week's post: The Brazilian government believes, as we do, that free speech stops with hate speech. They're going after homophobe bloggers for crimes against humanity. Fuck yeah, baby!

Is Obama Losing His Cool?

We never thought we'd say this, but The New Republic nails it on the head about Obama's controversial and dumb-as-rocks San Francisco speech.

As a reminder, here's what his raised such a fuss:

And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

What do you think of New Republic blogger Johnathan Chait's response:

But on their face they're not wrong, they simply make no sense at all. I can see how anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment is a way to explain your frustrations. But guns?
Obviously, people have not turned to religion or guns as a response to economic frustration.
I think he was trying, in extremely jumbled shorthand, to make a point about a politics that revolves around cultural division. Now, the incoherent wording of his remarks is an opportunity for his opponents to fill in their own meaning.

Whatever Obama's point was supposed to be, it was lost to most of the masses. And more importantly, to the state of Pennsylvania. One new poll shows a slight dip for the Illinois Senator in next Tuesday's matchup, while another shows it still locked at Hillary by 6. (However, some observers speculate his TV-ad saturation is what's causing the backlash in the state.)

Unless one candidate delivers a knockout blow next week, look for Hillary to carry on doing an excellent job of finding weak spots in her opponent's candidacy. In this case, she found out what we've known all along: Obama should stick to his script.

NY Times Restaurant Critic Figures Out How To Make Spitzer Scandal About Him

We may now have officially reached the tipping point in this whole Spitzer thing. Not only has the whole thing finally been reduced to a diamond-hard chunk of New York navelgazing -- but it's happening in the Times, meaning that the subject must have been sapped of any legitimate interest for at least a couple days now.

I’m joking, sort of, but the fact of the matter is that Eliot Spitzer, James McGreevey and David Paterson have, among their other contributions to public life, provided a behavioral yardstick as unsettling as any that Alfred Kinsey or Masters and Johnson ever produced. They’ve underscored our flimsy grasp of what goes on inside marriages and outside of them, making us feel like sheltered boobs.

Well, two points for accuracy, anyways.

Yay! More Politicians Go Down in Flames!

The Mayor of the Motor City is getting rolled out of town like a flaming tire, all disgraced and humiliated-like. At least he had some fun with his mistress(es?) on his way down to political hell...

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was charged with perjury, obstruction of justice and official misconduct on Monday, stemming from a sex scandal and the prominent Democrat's handling... of a whistle-blower lawsuit against the city.

For weeks, the City Council had called for his resignation and the commoners echoed this with demands for his head. Kilpatrick had been busted for lying on the stand during a lawsuit brought by two police officers who were allegedly fired for whistleblowing/cooperating in an investigation over the Mayor's use of tax dollars to fund extramarital affairs. The affairs, meanwhile, were all apparently with one woman: his chief of staff, Christine Beatty. Ouch.

In court, Kilpatrick and Beatty denied having an intimate relationship, but [recently discovered] text messages reveal that they carried on a flirty, sometimes sexually explicit dialogue about where to meet and how to conceal their trysts. [AP/Yahoo]

Compared to this guy, Eliot Spitzer is a pansy and David Paterson his drunk-ass wingman. These political offices make Nerve HQ look like a Focus On The Family picnic, only with fewer hot chicks and more firearms.

Another Intern Scandal: Will New York Never Learn From Bill Clinton's Mistakes?

We're blogging from the wilderness in Connecticut today, where apparently no one has heard of wireless internet. (We got some funny looks from the neighbors who still think cell phone users are all terrorists trying to set off atomic bombs.) They've also obviously never heard of The Law of Bill Clinton out here-- or in New York: if you're a politician with a penis, and you use that penis, you will end up being made fun of on the internet.

New York and Connecticut, neighbors and fellow travelers in lechery, are racking up the perv exposures:

1) While investigating municipal corruption, the FBI discovered phone records and pictures of [Waterbury, CT Mayor Vincent] Giordano with a prostitute named Guitana Jones, as well as with her 10-year-old niece and her 8-year-old daughter. He was arrested on July 26, 2001 and, in March 2003, was convicted of 14 counts of using an interstate device, his cell phone, to arrange sexual contact with children. He was also convicted of violating the girls' civil rights. He was sentenced to 37 years in prison. In July 2007 his motion to reduce this sentence was denied by a federal judge. [Wikipedia]

2) Up until just a few years ago, New York legislators would go "window shopping" for interns at the start of every legislative session. The eager young people would be corralled at a newsstand so legislators could pick their help based on looks, not resumes. A former district attorney in Albany says that unfortunately, many of the people who seek public office "are flawed people to begin with." (Canadian Press)

No wonder we didn't get that political job we've been groveling for: we, ridiculous as it may sound, thought our record of experience would inevitably carry us all the way to the Big House. (Yeah, even we've begun to sound like the broken Hillary Clinton record.)

[A friend of a friend is] a Swiss-Brazilian girl who went to D.C. to f**k Spitzer over the summer. Apparently he's been up to this for awhile.
Apparently, his dirty request is for girls to lick his ass. Which seems peculiarly apropos. And he wanted to get his wife in on the action. My friend thought his wife might have known, but wasn't sure.

BREAKING: New York Governor, Elected as Reformer, May Have Solicited $5,000/hr Prostitutes

We're sure this will be a small scandal, just like the Governor's, um...

Official statement from the Governor of New York's office is forthcoming, but in the meantime:

ALBANY - Gov. Eliot Spitzer has informed his most senior administration officials that he had been involved in a prostitution ring, an administration official said this morning.
Mr. Spitzer, who was huddled with his top aides inside his Fifth Avenue apartment early this afternoon, had hours earlier abruptly canceled his scheduled public events for the day. He scheduled an announcement for 2:15 after inquiries from the Times.

We sort of liked the as-yet-still-Governor, but he was turning out to be kind of a jerk and, more importantly, The Missus just reminded us that she always thought he looked like a creep. Guys, always listen to your wives. Anyways, when we see that announcement, we'll let you know.

UPDATE: Still no announcement, but The Times now sez that the Governor was caught on a federal wiretap arranging a $2,500 rusty trombone. OK, that last part is pure speculation. But the part about the bugged phone is true. Full text after the jump.

Spitzer Is Linked to Prostitution Ring

ALBANY - Gov. Eliot Spitzer has been caught on a federal wiretap arranging to meet with a high-priced prostitute at a Washington hotel last month, according to a person briefed on the federal investigation.

The wiretap recording, made during an investigation of a prostitution ring called Emperors Club VIP, captured a man identified as Client 9 on a telephone call confirming plans to have a woman travel from New York to Washington, where he had reserved a room. The person briefed on the case identified Mr. Spitzer as Client 9.

The governor learned that he had been implicated in the prostitution probe when a federal official contacted his staff last Friday, according to the person briefed on the case.

The governor informed his top aides Sunday night and this morning of his involvement. He canceled his public events today and scheduled an announcement for this afternoon after inquiries from the Times.

The governor’s aides appeared shaken, and one of them began to weep as they waited for him to make his statement at his Manhattan office. Mr. Spitzer was seen leaving his Fifth Avenue apartment just before 3 p.m. with his wife of 21 years, Silda, heading to the news conference.

The man described as Client 9 in court papers arranged to meet with a prostitute who was part of the ring, Emperors Club VIP, on the night of Feb. 13. Mr. Spitzer traveled to Washington that evening, according to a person told of his travel arrangements.

The affidavit says that Client 9 met with the woman in hotel room 871 but does not identify the hotel. Mr. Spitzer stayed at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington on Feb. 13, according to a source who was told of his travel arrangements. Room 871 at the Mayflower Hotel that evening was registered under the another name.

Federal prosecutors rarely charge clients in prostitution cases, which are generally seen as state crimes. But the Mann Act, passed by Congress in 1910 to address prostitution, human trafficking and what was viewed at the time as immorality in general, makes it a crime to transport someone between states for the purpose of prostitution. The four defendants charged in the case unsealed last week were all charged with that crime, along with several others.

Mr. Spitzer had a difficult first year in office, rocked by a mix of scandal and legislative setbacks. In recent weeks, however, Mr. Spitzer seemed to have rebounded, with his Democratic party poised to perhaps gain control of the state Senate for the first time in four decades.

Mr. Spitzer gained national attention when he served as attorney general with his relentless pursuit of Wall Street wrongdoing. As attorney general, he also had prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as head of the state’s organized crime task force.

In one such case in 2004, Mr. Spitzer spoke with revulsion and anger after announcing the arrest of 16 people for operating a high-end prostitution ring out of Staten Island.

“”This was a sophisticated and lucrative operation with a multitiered management structure,” Mr. Spitzer said at the time. ”It was, however, nothing more than a prostitution ring.”

Albany for months has been roiled by bitter fighting and accusations of dirty tricks. The Albany County district attorney is set to issue in the coming days the results of his investigation into Mr. Spitzer’s first scandal, his aides’ involvement in an effort to tarnish Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno, the state’s top Republican.
