We're really sick of Tim Kaine. First, he botches the Democratic response to the State of the Union in a year when he could have turned the tide away from that dreadful President of ours; then, he decides he wants to be the next DNC chair. Now, this ass-backwards dweeb is going to help lead the party away from progressive values like, for example, marriage equality. Kaine, according to Queers United, "has endorsed an amendment banning same-sex marriage. Click here to ask why LGBT democrats should support a party whose chair is anti civil unions and more anti-gay than John McCain."

The guy who stole the 2004 Presidential election in Ohio thinks being gay is a choice. We don't even know where to start with his fucking scoundrel.

Speaking of elections, a gay bishop is to open Obama's inaugural weekend festivities.

Two hotel staffers in Tennessee were fired shortly after a former employee informed the boss of their homosexuality.

Hallmark Gay Marriage Cards: Political Heroism Or Plain Greed?

We understand Hallmark is a business-- in the entertainment business, if you will. That's why we almost understood their use of the word "queer" as a punchline in a greeting card (it actually wasn't as bad as all that.) But are their latest wedding cards cynical, because they waited for the cultural tide to turn in favor of gay marriage before they had the guts to mass produce them?

For those of you with eyes even worse than ours, the card reads: "Two hearts. One promise." Hell, we wouldn't be surprised if people walk past it in the greeting card aisle without even picking up on the fact that both cover characters are wearing tuxedos. Of course, this doesn't mean Hallmark has been able to slip this one past the crazies at the American Family Association, which pressed "SEND" on their instant, fill-in-the-company-name boycott press release fax machine:

Hallmark Greeting Cards has announced it will begin selling same-sex wedding cards, even though same-sex marriage is legal in only two states. The purpose, they say, is to satisfy consumer demand. It appears that their purpose is also to push same-sex marriage. Last year Hallmark began offering "coming out" cards - as in "coming out of the closet" -- a euphemism for announcing homosexuality.

We've all given or received Hallmark Cards – remember their slogan – "when you care enough to send the very best." But promoting same-sex marriage for profit is not the very best for families or our nation. [If you're looking for a link, sorry, we don't give out page views to hate sites - Ed.]

As various media outlets have already pointed out, the Hallmark cards are a step forward but also not even offensive to gay marriage opponents-- after all, the language is neutral, meaning there's no mention of "marriage" or even "gay butt sex." For all the AFA knows, these cards are for "commitment ceremonies," which probably wouldn't shut them up but maybe would keep a boycott from succeeding.

Florida, which has been making a run lately for the title of Craziest State in the Nation, helped bring itself closer to reality this week by ignoring the "gay panic" plea of a drag queen's coldblooded murderer, sentencing him to life in prison. Don't worry, buddy, there's no chance of butt sex in prison.

The Religious Right, in the form of the so-called American Family Association, urged its members to boycott McDonald's restaurants nationwide after the chain so much as voiced support for National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. These are actual quotes from the right-wing group, believe it or not:

[T]he boycott "is not about hiring homosexuals ... It is not about homosexuals eating at McDonald's ... It is not about how homosexual employees are treated.
"It is about McDonald's, as a corporation, refusing to remain neutral in the culture wars. McDonald's has chosen not to remain neutral but to give the full weight of their corporation to promoting the homosexual agenda, including homosexual marriage," the site went on to say.

Scanner's Sex Boycott for New York Post Readers

As we reported yesterday, The New York Post revealed the identity of a man who happened to choke while minding his own business at a BDSM club. The Post ran a series of stories about the man, his family and his profession and called his presence at the club his "shameful habit." When questioned about the ethics of revealing the man's name, a spokesperson for the paper shamelessly declared "The Post will happily name every adult caught in a dog collar."

We've never been big fans of The Post and its yellow journalism. This particular incident has sent us over the edge. We thought about calling for a boycott of The Post, but that wouldn't do much good. What would we do? Keep not buying The Post? Plus, we're going to go out on a limb and guess that a fair number of the people who get their news from The Post think it's probably okay to out someone like that. So, instead we're calling for a boycott of sex with people who read The New York Post.

That's right. If you believe that what The Post did was wrong, and you're sleeping with someone who reads that paper, or considering sleeping with someone who reads that paper, don't do it. We're all for sex, but we're also all for people having the right to practice whatever sexual fetishes they want to do freely (as long as they're not hurting anyone else, which this man clearly was not) without having their names and faces splashed on the front page of a New York City tabloid.

How long will a Post reader go without nookie before s/he finally makes the switch? And what kind of effect could this have on The Post's sales? We know it's already hurting for readership, that's why they shove free copies in everyone's faces. What would a sex boycott do to The Post?

All we want is for The Post to issue a front page apology to the man. Oh, and never pull that shit again. And even if they don't apologize because of our little boycott, do you really want to sleep with someone who gets his or her news from a source like The New York Post? We thought not.
