Bust Out the Doc Martens and Flowy Skirts: The Lilith Fair is Back

Go ahead, pretend you didn't spend the better part of the nineties singing Sarah McLachlan songs in the shower, but we know better. And if you were as young and poor and uncool as we were, you may have spent the last ten years of your life regretting the fact that you never made it to the Lilith Fair to catch McLachlan, Missy Eliot, Bonnie Rait, Erykah "On and On" Badu, Lisa "You Say I Only Hear What I Want To" Loeb, Paula "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" Cole, Meredith "Bitch" Brooks*, Meshell Ndegeocello, The Cowboy Junkies, and so many, many more amazing female performers. But, after a ten-year hiatus, the Lilith Fair is back. Well, it will be back. In 2010. Terry McBride, chief executive of Nettwerk Music Group made the announcement via Twitter over the weekend. And that's the good news.

The bad news?

So far, Billboard reports, Nettwerk has only planned a two-week tour in the U.K./Europe. (Scanner Colleen, I see an across-the-pond girl date/camping trip in our future.)

Lilithfair.com (which we assume is official) confirms the festival's return, but a basic splash page links only to its Wikipedia entry.

*Speaking of Meredith "Bitch Brooks, we recently heard that song on the radio and couldn't believe how fucking good and ::sigh:: relevant it is, still.

Polish model and soon-to-be megafamous sex symbol Joanna Krupa gave an interview to FoxNews this week about how she got into this whole business of laying about half-undressed... and totally undressed.

Blame the Pope.

Krupa, a Polish 20-something recently named The World's Sexiest Swimsuit Model by Playboy (Bar Rafaeli is crying in her two piece), says that it's her European upbringing that made her comfortable enough with herself to do tasteful nudity:

"I think worrying about going topless in a photo shoot or film is really ridiculous," Krupa told FOXNews.com in an exclusive interview. "And the fact is Pope John Paul said, since we were born naked, it is art, and it's just showing a beautiful body that God created."

Amen. [Yes. That's Fox's word.]

"I was born in Europe, and Europeans have a more casual, natural way of dealing with nudity," Krupa adds. "Interestingly enough, these days, you see nudity and toplessness in almost every critically acclaimed movie, and whenever I pick up a French Vogue, I see bare breasts, and French Vogue still sets the standards."

"I can tell you that I am very proud that everything I have achieved to date has happened due to the hard work of my team and myself," she said. "I was never tempted to give in [to the casting couch] because I have always been in committed relationships, and take the word 'committed' very seriously."

"I live a normal life where family and love comes first. The minute I leave a set, I go back to my regular life and simply enjoy a night at home with my sweetheart and dogs, and if we go out, it's just with a few good friends. I watch the circus, but don't join it. People expect a busy model to be on every party and to indulge in crazy behavior, drugs and multiple lovers - I represent the opposite of that."

Krupa also adds that a PETA ad might not be far off..

"I dedicate as much time as I can to fight for animal rights, and against horrific realities like fur factories and puppy mills," she added. "I also have a column on www.bestswimwear.com where I talk about how to get your body in bikini shape, while still enjoying life, and especially food."

French President Nicholas Sarkozy is about to lose his justice minister, the controversial Rachida Dati, who will leave a giant hole in the daily tabloids when she departs in June. (Dati, as you may recall, became a single mother at 42 and then caused an uproar when she attended a cabinet meeting five days later.)

Sarkozy realized France loves its female politicians, particularly much-discussed, attractive ones. So, his next Cabinet minister is going to be Christine Kelly, a woman "known for appearing in her bikini and appearing on TV..."

According to the Telegraph, Kelly was chosen because:

"Mr Sarkozy is hugely impressed that she is not only attractive, but in touch with the modern world,' said a source in the governing UMP party. Ed. Note: Notice he mentioned her looks first...

Yep, those are pretty much the extent of her qualifications, at least according to that story. Sarkozy is well on his way to becoming the next Silvio Berlusconi.

Maybe we're being extra sensitive coming off the Bust Party last night, but sexism is definitely making a comeback on this Friday afternoon.

First, there was the 6 Tips on Cheating With Multiple Girlfriends list link. Then comes word that Sweden-- as a whole-- is fed up with Coca-Cola's sexist ads. We wish they would take on all sexist advertising while they're at it...

Here's the ad that has the country in an uproar:

According to the Local, Sweden's must-read (online!) newspaper, ad agency watchdogs in the great European nation have attacked Coke for treating women as "purely sex objects."

But what offended the person who filed the complaint was the fact that, if a number of questions posed on the website are answered in a certain way, the woman is suddenly standing near a bed wearing only a bra and panties.

While Coca-Cola chose not to comment on that specific aspect of the internet ad campaign, it explained that the website was supposed to create an image of how life should be.

So, Coke thinks life should involve stripper harems, dishonest breakups, superficial relationships, and "diet" soda that tastes like pond water? Oh, and did Coke happen to see this post, which we linked to this morning? Wonder what they think of that kind of "life."

Kerry Katona did two things right: one, she went on MTV in the UK and had her 34-double-G's removed. Those fake boobs were ridiculous and very unattractive (to our minds.)

The second thing she did was even more inspired-- she autographed one of those implants and put it on eBay for The Breast Cancer Campaign...

According to Fox News, which we will quote from here so you don't have to give them any of your page views, eBay then did the dumbest thing imaginable: it pulled the auction.

"The implant was on eBay and I believe the idea was to raise money for Breast Cancer Campaign," a rep for the charity told Tarts. "However eBay have now taken the item off because people were putting fake bids in, £8 million ($11.34 million US) at one point."

But according to eBay it wasn’t bogus bidders that resulted in the item being removed, it was actually Katona who broke the rules.

"Our policy team weighed in and said that this auction was removed for the Charity Violation contained within the item description as there was no letter of written consent by eBay's Office of the President to allow the item to be sold under our Charity guidelines," an eBay rep told Tarts.

Oh, shut up, eBay. You're just a bunch of conservative whimps that always side with the ripoff artists when they claim to have never received expensive items from honest sellers. And your conservative founder is running to further ruin the state of California as a Republican governor. eBay, you should know, we have negative feedback to give you.

Although I hate sports, I got into the European football matches during their championship matches last summer while traveling abroad. It didn't hurt that a lot of the players were easy on the eyes and constantly showing a little well-toned leg.

In the case of the Spanish soccer team El Galactico Pegoso, they're not afraid to show a little more leg and Speedo-size underwear, either. As you'll see in this local news coverage of the incident, the team dropped trou as a protest* for not getting paid.

A Swedish court handed down a decision last week acknowledging that The Madonna of Orgasm Church (the other Madonna) had a right to registration as a faith organization, which, according to news reports, is some sort of slap in the face to Christians...

Originally, the Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency (Kammarkollegiet) had refused the church’s registration application on the grounds that its name may offend Christians.

What, because of the word Madonna? Man, those freaks need to get over themselves.

According to the Skånska Dagbladet newspaper, the idea for the church came to Bebeacua, who is the church’s self-appointed cardinal, after a painting of his entitled 'The Madonna of Orgasm' sparked protests requiring police action during the 1992 World’s Fair in Seville, Spain.

“The orgasm is God, the orgasm should be worshiped,” Bebeacua told the Kvällsposten newspaper.

“The orgasm is the ultimate feeling of lust, it shouldn’t be limited to ejaculation. You can reach it through art or by looking at a landscape and thinking ‘Wow!’”

Bebeacua says his church has a few hundred followers, but we beg to differ: it's more like hundreds of millions, all of whom would probably welcome climaxing via landscape, if only we could figure out how the hell that's going to happen...

We know Scanner Emily mentioned this yesterday, but it's way to good not to blog about in full.

A 45-year-old father of two was exposed by the Swedish newspaper the Expressen for running a bestiality ring that allegedly includes thirty members. But it's not the sex ring or the fact that a newspaper was the one to blow the lid off this thing (instead of the cops, that is) that caused us to sit up and drop our bagels...

Daddy who, thank God, is not married to the mother of those poor children of his, is a farmer (surprise) who owns dogs, horses, and an internet forum for bestiality lovers. Whoops. Somehow, the Expressen managed to infiltrate his underground harem and, after what must have been an unbearable couple of months, confronted the guy, who remains nameless-- because, well, you'll see...

But the man was quick to defend his relations with a bitch he bought online from a city-dwelling family who said they wanted the dog to have a better life in the countryside.

"Any of the times I did anything with her she was the one who backed into me and provoked it. She was in heat and made herself available. There were also times later when she didn't want to and then I backed out immediately," he told Expressen.

Now you see why we love this story? Who the hell does this guy think he is, with the "she seduced me" argument? Oh, right, he's a leader of a large bestiality ring in Sweden. Got it.

It gets worse/better, depending on how much you're sickened or appreciating this insanity? The Expressen's investigator was forced to sit through a regular group meeting, for which members brought a variety of animals to show off, as well as video recordings of their pets in... never mind. Barf.

By the way, the reason we, the Local, and the Expressen cannot name this name? No, it's not because he's innocent until proven guilty-- he's completely innocent, at least in the eyes of the law, since Sweden has no law against bestiality.

"Is it, and should it be, legal to spread something on the genitalia that might smell or taste nice to a dog, in order to allow the dog to lick off whatever is spread on the genitalia?

"Should it be permitted to stroke a bitch's teats with love, or should it be classified as animal sexual abuse?" the minister wondered. [The Local]

According to FOXNews, the Daily Mail is reporting (though we can't find the original article) that a new aerosol spray could be the answer to all of your premature ejaculation problems.

The spray, PSD502 (sexy!) is basically an anesthetic that reduces the sensitivity of the penis. Which doesn't sound like fun to us, but we don't have a penis and can't really say.

Apparently it works, though:

In a European study, 300 men used the spray over the course of 12 weeks. The results indicated that the drug became effective within five minutes, compared to the placebo’s result of one minute. The men who used it did not report any harmful side effects.

Have we mentioned how much we love Sweden? First, many of its young ladies enjoy having sex with one another. It's also in Europe, somewhere, so that's helpful.

Seriously, this new story from Sweden, which involves boarding school students, sex games, bananas, and chocolate make take the, um, cake...

It seems that for the new autumn semester of Riksbasket Gymnasiet, a boarding school for students who are more focused on basketball than school books, the new students got a welcoming party they hadn't bargained for.

“In one game boys had their upper bodies covered in chocolate and the girls had to lick it off,” said Ewa Lundström, principle for sports high schools in Luleå, to Sveriges Radio.
“In another game the girls were lying on the floor with a banana in their mouth while the boys did pushups on top of them and ate the bananas,” said Lundström.

Of course, school officials are ruining all the fun by launching a full investigation into the serious, serious matter. Students, meanwhile, are probably realizing that they need to tighten the ranks to the most trustworthy friends, who aren't likely to snitch, and then at least try to get more creative about their initiation methods.

We recommend ice cubes on a hot day, a la Do The Right Thing.

An Italian television personality exploded into the spotlight yesterday based on one uncensored photo. The closest thing we've seen to this before was when Megan Fox went from "some girl who was in Transformers" into the hottest thing alive after winning Maxim's ridiculous Hottest Woman In The World contest.

This will give you some idea of how quickly Miss Palmas became famous: we're still not sure how to spell her first name, at least officially. Some sites give it as Georgia, while others stick with the typical Italian spelling of Giorgia. Either way, pretty soon we'll all be sick to death of whatever the hell-- or whoever the hell she is/spells it.

When this photo appeared in reddit yesterday, it had her name completely misspelled, including her last name, which was missing the "s."

Giorgia Palmas (born on 5 March 1982 in Cagliari, Sardinia) is an Italian television personality. She became famous by appearances in the Italian television show Striscia la notizia.

Palmas began her career in the year 2000, winning second place at Miss World, losing out to Miss India Priyanka Chopra. In 2001, she was in Buona Domenica, as a microfonina. In 2002, she won the television show Veline, becoming the brunette velina, in pair with Elena Barolo, the new blonde velina. For two television seasons, 2002/2003 and 2003/2004, she was a velina in Striscia la notizia, gaining her a lot of popularity. After leaving Striscia la notizia she appeared in Italia 1 summer edition of Lucignolo, with Elena Barolo. In September of the same year she was in Rai 1 show, I Raccomandati. Man... Jim Beam thinks he can go on over to Australia, where no one shaves any part of their body and topless whores fornicate with eight-year-old cigar-chomping schoolboys in broad daylight, and just ram their arrogant American pseudo-comedy down the (deep) throats of the TV-viewing public.

Well, they got another thing comin'...

According to Food Week, this is the least offensive ad of the campaign:

The bourbon maker's campaign, The Neighbours, includes TV and internet ads showing two blondes in G-strings applying sunscreen, bouncing on a trampoline and finally stripping naked as they're watched through a hedge by "Stevo next door" and his mates.

A 30-second TV version, first shown on Fox Sports, features one semi-naked women stating: "We say, Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, take off your cozzie." Viewers are then directed to a website with a longer ad in which the women are spied on as they undress.

The camera zooms in on their breasts and backsides before ending with a close-up of one topless woman washing dishes at the kitchen sink.

Australian cultural critics and consumer advocates have attacked the campaign for making light of stalking and perverted peeping, and quite rightly. Jim took down his ads and removed them from every available source-- except YouTube, where we found the above video, untouched (for now.) It may remain there, since it seems relatively harmless... and pointless. The Brisbane Times has a screenshot of the video, but it tells us nothing. If anyone locates an embeddable copy or even a link to the complete 30-second spot, please send and we'll update this.

Germans and Poles are going to war

Holy Christ! Have we learned nothing from World War - The Sequel? Is Germany going to blitzkrieg the ass off of Poland, particularly the asses of the above two females?

Oh. Phew. We thought it was, you know, something else...

Germans nudists have been fuming over the fact that since a fence on the two nations' border was removed in 2007, following Poland’s accession to the Schengen borderless zone, Polish bathers stroll into German territory near the Polish town of Swinoujscie, north-western Poland, encroaching on the privacy of naked German sunbathers.

"You feel like an ape in the zoo. The Poles come with their binoculars, stare and swear at us,” one German naturist told The Sun.

The best part of this story is that the rest of this Polish news article features snide remarks about Poles from Germans. Are they trying to start a border war... or, better yet, World War - The Threequel?

“It’s horrible, we would never bathe naked, we are Catholic,” said a Polish beachgoer

That may be the funniest thing I've ever heard. Let's hope this mindless drama continues and that everyone fights to a stalemate, then collapses in an exhausted lovefest...

It sounds like Eddie Izzard, the British comedian and star of FX's The Riches, will quit acting at the end of the show's run to launch a career in politics...

We're guessing that, based on his residency and outspoken nature, he'll run for Parliament.

Do you want to run for office?
Yeah. Don't you think I should?

Sure. Why not?
If you think I should and I think I should, then I should. I do like people and trying to make things work. We've got to make it work in Europe. People are very worried about sovereignty and the loss of sovereignty. I think the stakes are if we don't make the European Union work, then the world is screwed. End of story.

Do you have any big ideas for Europe?
Logical governance is the thing. It already exists. It's called subsidiarity, which is based on Catholic theology and is basically the idea that governance happens at its logical level.

Unfortunately, neither Barack Obama nor Hillary Clinton landed the big Eddie Izzard endorsement in the Newsweek piece. The comic simply says, "I want a Democrat to get in." (Ironically, it's the party's non-endorsement of one of the two candidates that will make it so much harder for a Democrat "to get in." Nonetheless, we're really looking forward to the "Stripped" tour, especially since we've never been a fan of his "Dress To Kill"/drag thing, as pictured above.)
