I
was on a date a few years ago and mentioned that I'd been enjoying the
then-recently released DVD of Freaks And Geeks: The Complete Series. My
date took me aback by rolling her eyes to the skies and murmuring about
her lustful tendencies toward one Jason Segel. My response: "You mean
the fat guy who plays the drummer?"
I
quickly recovered by saying I was "joking" and that I was just a bit
surprised since James Franco is much more attractive and sports a tight
leather jacket throughout. (Seth Rogen was on the show, too, but who
could have then predicted that he would be the sex symbol of 2009?) My
date imparted a piece of knowledge which I have not forgotten: "Jason
Segel is a sexy, sexy man."
The New York
Post and other tabloid rags would have done well to have figured that
out before 99% of the culture did, sometime between Freaks and
Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which featured Segel's famous full-frontal
nude scene...
