• Barney Frank Bringing Back the "T"

  Now that we've calmed down a bit we can share this update on the state of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act proposed by Congressman Barney Frank. While previously Frank had suggested excluding transgender people from the proposed bill that would protect lesbians and gays from being fired or not promoted because of sexual orientation Frank has now followed out lesbian Rep. Tammy Baldwin's lead and decided to reinstate the "T" and extend protection to transgender employees as well. This is good news. Now we won't be forced to arm our hamsters and storm Washington, DC.   Barney Frank, everyone's favorite gay gay gay US senator, dropped transgender rights from the EmployBarney Frank, everyone's favorite gay gay gay US senator, dropped transgender rights from the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. ENDA would make it illegal for an employee to be fired or not promoted because of his or her sexual orientation. Frank's reasoning is that, without offering protection to transgender employees, the bill actually has a chance of passing in Congress. Whatever the case may be, we worry Frank doesn't really give a crap about transgender rights and sees the transgender community as a "burden" to his quest of securing civil and political rights for straight-seeming gay men.
