More Girls Say "Yes"

Posted by Emily Farris

The hullaballoo surrounding the "Girls Say Yes to Boys Who Say Obama" poster inspired some lovely ladies in Minneapolis to make one of their own, and they sent it to us.

Pictured above are writer Andrea Swensson, actress and photographer Alexa Jones and photographer Stacy Schwartz.

We'd love to start a collection of these. And perhaps we'll sit down with Scanner Nicole and Scanner Brian to make one of our own.

I don't understand this Palinoia. She's got an 80% approval rating in her state, one of the very few female governors, ran against her own party and won, all while being a mom. Twice elected to mayor.

If it's some kind of anti-Christian bigotry, let me share this: Importantly, she doesn’t define her friend by her sexuality: “She’s not my gay friend, she is one of my best friends.” That’s how I hope my straight friends see me.  How we all should hope our straight friends see us.

I think it comes down to this: because feminists are so dedicated to the idea of absolutism on the abortion issue, they oppose her. But: Geraldine Ferraro had the same position. And so does Biden!!!!

That's what's so infuriating. Biden shares the exact same view... but he gets a pass? WTF?

The position: personal opposition, but no legislative action to curtail abortion access. Biden is personally opposed, Palin and many other politicians.

Her approval rating has actually plummeted 20% in Alaska over the past few weeks, so that 80% nonsense is garbage. (That's like saying Ted Kennedy has an 80% approval rating in Massachusetts-- what, they want someone more representative of their views?)

And you're being sexist for pointing out that she ran for Governor "while being a mom." I don't hear you or anyone else mentioning that Barack Obama is running for President while "being a Dad." You know why? Because it's stupid to say that. We saw how well her kids were being taken care of while she's been campaigning, so don't even start.

I seriously doubt Sarah Palin has gay friends, to be honest. So another moot point, since it's easy for her to imagine how she would treat a group of people she knows absolutely nothing about.

Biden is opposed to it for politically expedient reasons. And if you think we don't like Palin because she's against abortion (only), you need to look up the facts (not on Newsmax.com) and figure out what she's been up to.

Making rape victims pay for rape kits, leaving a tiny, tiny town tens of MILLIONS of dollars in debt when she left her job as Mayor, her absolutely disgraceful speeches that are full of lies, exaggerations, and hatemongering about Barack Obama shows not only that she's wrong on the issues but completely unfit for any government position, let alone able to win a political contest outside of a heavily Republican state.

sorry I gotta call false on this one. Biden has a record of supporting Roe V. Wade, and has taken a lot of flak for it in this election(the pope is one of his major critics): get the facts at (www.ontheissues.org/.../Joe_Biden_Abortion.htm).

And I don't want to diminish the importance of having a women so close to the presidency. But any republican with a working brain could have won that governorship of Alaska. The former Governor, Frank Murkowski, had an approval rating that was "one percentage point away from tying the nation's least popular governor, according to one of the country's largest pollsters". Plus she was barely vetted by McCain.Source:(www.juneauempire.com/.../sta_20060620001.shtml)

and as for her religion, actions speak louder than words. she DID vote for an amendment banning gay marriage in the Alaska constitution, and thinks this should be done on a federal level. so although she doesn't define her friends as "gay" she sure feels comfortable stripping them of their rights. source:(politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/.../palin-and-mccain-disagree-on-federal-gay-marriage-ban)

Believe me, there is SO much more than just the reproductive rights issue we three oppose Palin for. It has nothing to do with Religion.  More so with her and her party's stance on the environment, the economy, civil rights, and the war - among other things.

We are especially opposed to Palin because we believe the Republican party chose her purely because they believe that more women will vote Republican because of her gender.  We believe that this blatant pandering undermines educated voters - and for those reasons, we are against Palin and all she stands for.

Oh, and as Scanner Brian mentioned, all those lies she keeps telling.
