Happy Hour: 100th Anniversary Booze

Everyone from Pepsi to Tropicana (which is owned by Pepsi) have gone through redesigns as of late, receiving both posi and negi reviews (IMO, I think the redesigns are great).

How would you feel about a classic brand like Johnnie Walker going through a redesign? Is it sacrilegious to scotch drinkers around the world?

Well, whatever your thoughts are, it's about to happen. . .

Happy Hour: Dan Aykroyd Into All Sorts of Booze

When Michael and I first stepped into Gary's Wine Marketplace two Sundays ago, looking for a free tasting and a few new bottles of wine, the first thing we saw was a sign announcing Dan Aykroyd's forthcoming appearance at the shop the next weekend.

Apparently, he was to be signing bottles of his Crystal Head Vodka. This struck me as awesome for two reasons:

Dan Aykroyd is my favorite Ghostbuster.
I had actually blogged about his vodka back in October, and this could make for the perfect followup post.

So on Saturday, April 11, at 9:30 p.m., I joined the long line outside Gary's, my hat pulled down tight to protect me from the persistent drizzle, my Flip Mino in hand.

Happy Hour: Maple Bacon Booze Time

Happy Hour: Mmmm... Skittle Brau

Not to be one of those guys who quotes The Simpsons, but some of you may remember this exchange:

Homer: Got any of that beer that has candy floating in it? You know, Skittlebrau?

Apu: Such a beer does not exist, sir. I think you must have dreamed it.

Homer: Oh. Well, then just give me a six-pack and a couple of bags of Skittles.

Happy Hour: Booze Brings Spiritual Awakening and Joy

There are a number of reasons that Crystal Head Vodka completely baffles me, and makes me wonder if someone is totally having a laugh at my expense:

Dan Aykroyd is closely affiliated with this vodka.
The vodka itself comes in a "bottle" modeled after the crystal skull featured in the latest Indiana Jones movie.
Dan Aykroyd appears in a video on the Crystal Head Vodka website explaining the legend of the crystal skull.
Dan Aykroyd explains his decision to fill these crystal skulls with vodka by explaining that vodka brings people joy.
Dan Aykroyd does not once crack a smile during this video.
