  • Alice in Dinnerware

The other day, walking through NYC, my SO was drawn, like a moth to a flame, right into Fishs Eddy. I was momentarily confused why I had lost her a block prior, until I entered the store myself, and discovered that they now have a line of Alice in Wonderland print plates, glasses, and more.

In case it isn’t clear, the SO is a freak for Alice stuff. That being said, there’s a LOT of Alice in Wonderland stuff out there, so what separates these from the pack? Two things:

    1) Quality of Goods: The whole line is extremely delicately made.

    2) Artwork: The drawings are John Tenniel’s original spot drawings of Alice and company, so they’re classy and cute at the same time.

The whole line is exclusive to Fishs Eddy, though you can order anything they carry online. Personally, I’m partial to this set of four glasses:

  • Buy A Warhol Original For $100

Andy Warhol is one of the most famous artists and celebrity figures of the twentieth century. Most of us, whether we like his art or not, would probably jump at the chance to get one of his originals for $100. And, after the jump, I’ll tell you how:

  • Top Two Needs for a Sick Day

I have a ginormous cold today, which comes from the rapid changes back and forth in the weather. I can deal with consistent cold, consistent hot, or consistent… Medium? I dunknow. But for some reason, you rapidly fluctuate the temperature, and my body breaks faster than stone in a similar circumstance.

With the recent, terrifying revelation that AirBorne does absolutely nothing to help prevent colds, I’ve had to go back to my old ways of healing a cold. Tissues, chicken soup, a warm blanket, blah, blah, blah... What about the really important stuff? Check out my two top picks, after the jump.

  • about the blogger

Wendy Atterberry is a recent transplant to New York City via Chicago. You can often find her at some karaoke dive bar singing her repertoire, which includes "Midnight Train to Georgia," "Daniel," and most recently, "Sweet Dreams." Don't expect her to always hit the right notes. She lives in Manhattan with her boyfriend and two cats, and has a blog like everyone else.

Alex Zalben is a writer living in New York City. He's written for McSweeney's, Modern Humorist and PulpSecret.com. As one-fifth of the sketch comedy group Elephant Larry, he has been written up in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and pretty much every other major publication. Their blog was named one of PC Magazine's Top Blogs for 2007, and they recently won an ECNY Award for their viral short, "Minesweeper: The Movie." Alex did not know love until he bought his first Mac.

Steph Auteri is a freelance just-about-everything, with a special fondness for home goods she can't afford. She has been published in Publishers Weekly, New York Press and Nerve. She runs the blog selfhelpme.net, and her work can be found at stephiswrite.com.

    Editorial Director, Nerve Media:
