It is a trivet.  Let him hold up that hot pot of spaghetti water all by himself...spaghetti water being just about the only reason I have a hot pot in my kitchen.  For me, he'd need to hold up that take home box...he would be smashed under the weight of grease and fat and cheese that the box holds.

- It could be a really bad coaster, or coaster holder

- Or a candle holder

- You could stick a pen in his (I'm assuming it's a guy, though we've got no evidence) mouth and it could be a pen holder

- He's a coat hanger, and the screw (for the wall) goes through his mouth

I can't think of anything else.

    Alex Zalben is a writer living in New York City. He's written for McSweeney's, Modern Humorist and PulpSecret.com. As one-fifth of the sketch comedy group Elephant Larry, he has been written up in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and pretty much every other major publication.
